Nah man you called that pretty much perfectly. Very impressive how you could tell she was gonna jump out that quickly just from seeing her in the post parade. Only a small loss and she almost lasted the whole way, definite value there, I'd take that again all day.

Cheers man. If she back off the pace she set by just a small little bit then you cash that bet. May have even won the race since she was only about two lengths back at the line. Tough beat, though.
 
All 4 of the main european runners ran lamentably there, very disappointing. I wonder if the US runners are more far forward or just a bad crop of european 2yo fillies ? Saved a little with the cavale doree E/W play but still a losing race overall.

Hoping to see a blistering Songbird Performance to put me right in the Distaff. If not theres always tomorrow!

Nice job on the saver bet, Hodge. Not the result we wanted obviously, but you at least managed to limit the loss with it.

Haha. That's friggin awesome.

She's sitting 1/2 right now, and I think this may be the first time I've ever bet a horse that low. Crazy low odds. The handicapper in me is supposed to bet against that every day of the week. The fan in me is saying it is what it is and hope she romps regardless of price.
 
This next race is the true main event for the Breeders Cup this year. I'm excited.

My sportsbook finally put up racing lines for this weekend so I was lucky enough to grab her at a squarer price (-105 and +100). don't remember exactly which ones but iirc we've bet a couple of her races itt and she's been devastating out there.
 
So who's going to be the sacrificial lamb that is sent out there to challenge Songbird early? If there is one they're likely to finish in the back third. If there isn't one then she wins with room to spare.
 
Jerry Bailey echoing my exact thoughts from earlier in the thread. Beholder has to make a move at really close to the perfect time to win this race. I'm doubting she does, and thus see this more of a two horse race between Songbird and Stellar Wind.
 
Songbird is so big, has such a long stride for her size, and such a high cruising speed that if anybody is challenging her early then they better be prepared to take 3 steps to every 2 that she takes.
 
I think Beholder may have nipped it. I don't know though.

That looks like a 1/4 inch margin at the very most. Damn, that hurts. That hurts a lot.
