Media Karate Combat... is basically kickboxing right?

Barring the off-chance some random billionaire randomly falls in love with the sport enough to throw all of their money at it, I agree haha. I just don't think it's a coincidence that these promotions often end up being some striking hybrid of KB and MT. There's clearly a product in there with huge potential, but all of the other aspects of running a promotion in the 2020s seem to be holding everyone back. As much as I hate to say it, kickfighting doesn't have much of a shot at being popular until MT and KB become one sport, or at least one of them dies. Like you said, they are too similar, which causes the talent split (plus, casuals will just not understand the differences very well)

Interesting perspective, I agree it's ultimately a service issue.

Which is funny because I see a plethora of fight fans talking about how awesome ONE's 4 oz glove muay thai fights are now that they're streaming on prime video.

Never understood who owns it (though co-founded in 2018 by Robert Bryan and Michael DePietro). I know it is a subsidiary of Sensei Foundation BVI, a trust established in the British Virgin Islands. But this weird token Community Governance: In a move to a community-driven model, the league introduced the $KARATE token in May 2023, allowing fans and athletes to participate in governance voting and key league decisions through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) model.

Plus funding from several investment firms, including lead investor BITKRAFT Ventures, Alpha Wave Global, and others.

The whole show seemed suspicious with how much money they were paying athletes despite no clear source of revenue. Their last card was delayed quite a few hours before finally starting, and the primary talk was that unpaid workers opted not to set up the pit.

Financial Crisis at Karate Combat as Fighters, Vendors, and Partners Allege Non-Payment

Karate Combat is currently navigating its most severe operational crisis since inception, facing a convergence of public allegations regarding unpaid wages, active lawsuits from production vendors, and disputes with cryptocurrency partners. Reports from December 2025 indicate that the organization has failed to compensate key talent and staff for months, leading to speculation about its solvency heading into 2026.

Public commentary forums have echoed these concerns, noting repeated criticism of Karate Combat for late payment to both fighters and production personnel and suggesting that the organization may be in difficulty if this pattern continues. In these discussions, community members have linked payment problems with a noticeable decline in production quality and uncertainty over the league’s future.

Is anybody really that surprised?

That's not a switch kick. That's a scissor kick.
Switch Kick is a basic roundhouse kick where someone switches their stance swiftly as they kick with their lead leg.

Reports detail months-long purse delays, walkouts by unpaid crews, and vendors filing lawsuits over hundreds of thousands in unpaid bills, alongside the collapse of their $KARATE token and accusations of CEO token dumping, raising serious doubts about the organization's long-term viability.
