Karate Combat... is basically kickboxing right?

I think originally it was closer to a full-contact karate (with head punching) ruleset, as it was aimed at karate practitioners

Then they changed up the rules a bit to make it more like fast-paced kickboxing. And realised the pit was good for BJJ so they started having grappling as well

So I don't really know why it's still called Karate Combat apart from the gi pants but it seems like a fun time

No I watched this one Thai fight on there and he got taken down and TKOd by ground and pound. Definitely not kickboxing

Karate styles too does have some grappling. Ofc cos point karate is using striking to score ( mainly ) it isn't well known.

While these .....they doesn't mandate to use only one style etc..in this Karate Combat.
IMHO they are lurking with what kind of rules they might get more wievership.

I am not as sold on their kick-boxing events as I am sold on their Pit for BJJ!

Karate with boxing gloves and punches to the face is pretty much kickboxing style
