Kamaru Usman's best win

The 'furthest' from being shot? At age 37? And he would never win another fight again?

Now I'm worried that you agreed with my other points, because that means I must be retarded.
Prior to the Usman bout Woodley didn't look like a "shot" fighter It was after the loss and subsequent losses that he appeared to have lost a step, he finished Till before the Usman fight, Hadn't lost a fight in some years and he had an injury excuse for the Maia fight which he appeared lacklustre but don't worry just the Usman/Woodley take was slow on your end.

Hmm, I must admit that your logic is bulletproof. If he beat the legendary Darren Till in his only fight between July of 2017 and March of 2019, he must have still been in his prime at age 37, an age at which historically welterweights have excelled at.

Please go easy on me next time, as you can clearly see I am a little slow.

Listen, fuck the whole condecending shit from both our ends. I do not believe he was in his prime, of course not. Many attributed his loss to Usman due to how good Usman was, many also felt it was because Woodley was now showing his age, and some felt a combination of both. I'm not saying Woodley was not shot at the end of his UFC career but when he lost to Usman he was 3-1-1 in his last 5 "shot to me is Tony/Penn later UFC career and fighters losing their chin.I did, however, feel Woodley was old/shop worn when he lost to Burns because at that point he lost 10 rounds, not winning a single round.

Usman had fought the two same guys twice for title defenses

lol what the fuck? How did he duck Chimaev?

When Usman won the belt Chimaev wasn't even in the UFC.

In the entirety of Usman's time as champ, Chimaev had only beaten low level guys. He finally went life and death with Burns and got a decent win. That was the same Burns that got flogged by Usman a year earlier.

That was in April 2022. Usman was set to fight Leon in Aug 2022, in a fight he lost.

You think he was ducking Chimaev because he fought Leon instead of a guy who had only just beat one decent guy that he himself had beaten way more easily a year before? Or was he ducking Chimaev because he didn't fight him off wins of Leech, GM3, and freaking Rhys Mckee? lol.
After chimaev beat Gilbert burns, Usman said in an interview “chimaev needs to get more wins before he fights me,” despite that majority of mma fans wanted to see that fight at the time. Meanwhile, Usman was talking about going up to lightheavyweight (skipping over middleweight due to Izzy being current champ and friend)

Ultimately, Usman fought khamzat on short notice once he was no longer champ, but my point was that I believe Usman was losing focus on the challenges in his own division, and he received tons of backlash over it.

Sorry I can’t find that article, it’s been a few years.

If you look at Usmans record his most impressive win was beating Tyron Woodley for the belt.

His second best win is against Gilbert Burns.

I find it interesting that if he beats Buckley in a few weeks, that will probably be the best win of his career. I'm not sure how this guy was seen as being a MMA Mt Rushmore type. Definitely one of the most overrated legends of our time if you look at his actual record. This is no fault to him though, he fought who was around at that time. I guess lots of people passed on WW during his come up not wanting anything to do with GSP.
Burns at the rime was very good, Colby as well.

Was Usman wrong in what he said though? I mean, Chimaev had one good win, and it was a very close fight over a guy Usman flogged a year before.

I don't really blame Usman for saying Chimaev needed a few more wins. He did need them at the time.

Whether chimaev deserved it or not isn’t the issue. All I was saying was that Usman was trying to avoid the fight and fans were upset with him.

Anyway Usman should be considered 3rd best welterweight ever (arguably 2nd) contending with Hughes. His career was very impressive and it’s a shame he’s now being discredited so much. Covington was also very unstoppable in his prime and Usman handled him twice, yet Covington is so hated that Usman is being discredited for his greatest win now as well.

Just because a fighter doesn't automatically fight someone because that someone and their fans are yapping on social media and want the fight doesn't mean they're avoiding them lol. That's insane thinking.

Chimaev literally had 2 wins in the division. His other 2 wins were at MW not WW. Chimaev also wasn't ranked when he fought Leech.

So, Instead of fighting an unranked guy with only 2 wins over cans in the div, Usman fights Leon who was ranked #2 and so he's a duck? That makes no sense at all, brother.

It's no different from when Umar was calling out Suga to give him a title shot years ago and suddenly Suga was being called a duck by Umar and his fans. Umar had no top 15 wins whatsoever at the time lol.

Agreed about him being 3rd best and how he got discredited. It's like you say, Colby was unstoppable in his prime, and those wins Usman had over him were awesome wins, but everyone does shit on them because they shit on Colby lol. It doesn't make that much sense.

Nah colby was shut the fuck up

1st Colby fight.

I remember people arguing Usman > GSP and at that time saying hold the fuck on he hasn't even passed Hughes yet.

Now it seems like the world has come to its senses at least

GSP
Hughes
Usman
Usman isn't even #3. Woodley is.

His best win was breaking Colby's jaw and finally getting him to shut up

Hell yeah!

I know everybody hates him, but Colby is clearly Usman best wins, those were his most competitive fights and he shares pretty much the rest of Usman resume (RDA, Maia, Woodley and Masvidal).
Burns is a close second, but Woodley might honestly be the worst long reigning champion with very glaring flaws.

1st Colby fight.

Usman isn't even #3. Woodley is.
Woodley style of backing himself to the fence and hoping to land one big shot fell apart whenever he faced somebody he either didn't have a massive athletic edge over or just let him play his waiting game. The fact that beating he received from Usman, Colby and Burns were so thorough and that they were extrapolation of the flaws Rory Mac and Jake Shield exposed in his prime make it very hard to believe that he ever would have won.
His resume is pretty woeful for somebody who has as good a career as he had on paper.
Got a title shot by knocking out gatekeeper Kim, taking a split over Gastelum and Hendricks pulling out.
Landed his one big shot on a shopworn Lawler, who arguably should have lost 2 out of his last 3 fights.
Basically got two draws in a row against wonderboy who just freezes whenever he faces another counterstriker, second one was a coinflip decision.
Then fought Maia, who while absolutely deserved his shot, was already in his 40's and perfect stylistic matchup for Woodley.
Then he landed his one big shot again against Till who approached the fight with a terrible mentality.
