Kamaru Usman says Colby Covington: “...in the top-15 welterweights of all time”

Leons best win is nate diaz who almost finished leon scott with his pillow fists

True, and I always forget that Leon would be a rematch for Usman as well. Fuck it, give Luque a shot. Enough rematches!

Usman being a respectful active champ, what's not to like about this guy? Think he beats Colby even harder this time.

You must be new to mma

Fitch
Shields
Alvaz
Militech
Hughes
Newton
Prime maia
Condit
Lima

Lalwer
Prime Woodley
Ww bj
Edited Mcdonald, Diaz, n big rigg

Names on top of my head
I think Colby n usman would have a hard time with any of those fighter's compared to fighters like lw burns n masvidal or a old Woodley n maia
Colby barely beat Brian barberina. Saw that fight live
Lol. Seriously? Proving that join date means nothing. Most of those guys you listed wouldn't beat Colby, and you should know this. You act like I didn't state that some retired fighters would likely beat him (but that's essential to your attempt at feeling cool by attempting to imply that I am a noob). Honestly, think more before you post in the future.

lol, that wasn't a compliment. usman low-key talking shit about colby. hey, it's the fight game. talk all the shit you want.

we cant know that because he ducked Leon (twice), said no to Burns and Wonderboy, and pretty much everyone in top5.
It's a simple question. You don't have to dance around it. Who are the 15 WW's better than Colby? You can put Edwards, Burns, or WB in your top 15 if that's what you choose.

Not so sure about that one.

What aren't you sure about? That 100% and pretty clearly hit body, not groin. If Usman couldn't continue, as he indicated he couldn't by asking for a break, then he got finished by body kick there.

And if Goddard had ruled it legal there and then without a break, and Usman was hurt enough to have needed that break but never got it, then what exactly is inconceivable about him getting finished there?

Lastly, if he wasn't truly hurt and tried milking then that's still his fault and still a loss. It's a legal blow, the consequences still happen that he said he couldn't continue.

MMA really needs to become a real sport and implement instant replay available at all times instead of just after fight ending sequences. This is a perfect example where while Usman is asking for time Goddard could've looked at the play and instead deemed it a TKO now that he saw it wasn't illegal.

The thread is literally about the top 15 WW's. I think you should go back to page one and start over.

Burns and Luque for example are way better than this cardio abuser hell u can even throw Khamzat in there.
im talking about pre Usman broken soul/chin Colby.

I mean, is he really wrong? Colby's an interim title holder. A lot of people probably won't like it, but to me that's more important than simply being a longtime contender a la Fitch. A claim to being the best by disputing the title is better than just being #2 onwards.

Longevity on top as a contender IMO only matters if you ever actually did hit #1/interim at one point in your life. As much as people cite someone like Fitch just "unfortunately being in someone like GSP's era", everybody ignores that that's not even really true. Fitch was in the UFC from 2005-2013. During that time there were 6 WW title reigns, not just the one where GSP turned Fitch away.
  • Hughes' 2nd undisputed reign
  • GSP's 1st undisputed reign
  • Serra's undisputed reign
  • GSP's interim reign
  • GSP's 2nd undisputed reign
  • Condit's interim reign
Fitch never became champ or interim in ANY of those reigns. I can't ignore that the dude spent 6 reigns without ever touching any title.

Do I think that means someone like Serra, who won the title but not much else, should be ahead of him? Eh, that's when it gets iffy. But if the choice is instead Colby, who has both contender wins and an interim, to me it's clearly Colby who must be ahead of Fitch.

I wouldn't be too mad if others see otherwise, but top 15-20 seems fair for Colby.

I don't agree that he's top 15 of all-time, but he's definitely a current top fighter. Can't blame Usman for respecting his opponent though, he's about to have another title defense against him. That said, Usman should be fighting Leon. Colby hasn't fought in over a year, and has already lost to the champ. Usman already has 2 title defenses against Masvidal. If he successfully defends against Colby again, he'll have 5 defenses against 3 guys. Shit's weak. If 170 is always one of the "most stacked" divisions, why is it historically riddled with rematches at the top?

#1 bullshit

He's getting into Cain levels of rematches.
