Elections Kamala Harris for POTUS

I don't think that a truly centrist person could look at the facts that I've laid out, which so far you haven't contested, and reasonably come to the conclusion that a protest vote is appropriate. In 2016? Huge difference, Trump was an unknown and you could reasonably expect the GOP to push back against any insanity. Even I cast a protest vote in that year.

Now? Its more or less public record that he tried to overturn an election and the GOP cowered before him instead of holding him accountable. A reasonable, principled centrist has to have some lines that could be crossed which would force them to stake a position on one side or the other and I think Jan 6th and the fall out from it should be that line.

Vote for someone you have strong and meaningful ideological differences with (perhaps not AS strong as someone on the far right, but still there) AND who you deem inept in some important areas of being POTUS because "the other guy who can win is just way worse"? Nah. I won't write myself in or some celeb that's unqualified or something stupid. I'll cast a vote for someone I think will actually do a good job running the country. And weigh any ideological differences against the rest of the picture.

As of now, the MAGA influence of the R's leaves the cupboard pretty bare for anyone I'd consider writing in. I guess Mark Kelly is maybe my frontrunner? (Odd if he ends up the VP choice that he'll get my vote for prez but not VP...but is what it is).

I don't need to be placated here, you're free to argue what you want in response to what I said if you disagree.

I want people, especially supposed centrists, to stop acting like Trump is a normal, respectable candidate instead of a unique threat to America's democratic institutions and norms in light of the fact that he tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. I want people to stop pretending that the radicals are a minority in the GOP when 2/3rds of the voters base believe the "Stop the Steal" conspiracy and Republican law makers and judges appointed by them have closed ranks behind Trump and shielded him from accountability. I want people to recognize that this series of events, Trump's attempted coup, the failed impeachment due to GOP partisanship, his dominant performance in the primary, and the immunity decision by the SCOTUS, collectively point to Trump becoming a uniquely powerful executive unrestrained by the other branches of government or his own voter base should he win reelection. And I want it recognized that in light of this there is nowhere near equal culpability for the insane polarization in the country right now.

Unlike all the nutty conspiracies that come out daily from the right this is virtually public record and isn't contested by the accused. This is an insanely unique moment in the history of American democracy that isn't getting anywhere near the attention it deserves from this angle. Saying the equivalent of "Trump should not have done that, it was the wrong thing to do" really doesn't cut it for me in light of the facts at hand.
this is all truth about trump and the Republicans. they have all lost their way.

lol so she’s a woman of color but somehow too light skinned?
Libs don’t like Tulsi for all the reasons I described, plus a few more reasons I didn’t list.

The only people I see really obsessed with identity politics ITT is the Righties, many of whom started in right away in their race-baiting woman-bashing silliness.

I think there’s definitely a hope that will help us with the black vote, as there were indicators we were losing that with Biden. Black women still supported Dems according to survey data, so it’s fair to say that a lot of us hope that going with Kamala keeps them on board.
Ya that's why it's only progressive schmucks like Biden that declared what his VPs identity needed to be...because it didn't matter...lol

How Trumpists dealt with Kamala in the aftermath of Biden dropping out is hilarious. They were lost at sea. All those years of narrative about Joe just evaporated, so they started just throwing everything out there, seeing what sticks with Kamala, before they get their marching orders from HQ.

Kamala has an annoying laugh.
Kamala has given blowjobs.
Kamala is not really black.

All very important issues. lmao.

She's an unqualified DEI pick with pretty much the same platform as Biden. They don't like Biden's platform so why would the same people now suddenly vote for Harris?

Kamala is a likeable candidate with a great sense of humor.

What part of what I said there do you disagree with?
That I have to vote for Harris to be a centrist
I hope you can see its not just someone like me who perceives you as a right winger sympathetic to Trump
Yeah well idk why because I literally call him an idiot, moron, narcissist, stooge wanna be dictator all the time so idk.

What rights do women not have?
Are you serious? Well, for starters, if your doctor discovers a resolvable medical condition which could seriously threaten your health or life, you can confer with your physician and choose your preferred method of care. The government won’t step in and force you to forego care or risk your own health, life, and safety. If you want to travel somewhere else for care, you can do so. You don’t have to worry about being prosecuted for exercising your right to travel. You've never had to take a case all the way to your state Supreme Court, and you’ve never had your state’s AG interfere even after you win to prevent you from exercising your rights. Pretty amazing, eh?

So you dont think women should have a say unless they conform to leftist ideas?
You know what makes you such a great WR poster? It’s how you never address the other person’s points, and just answer with questions and deflections.

So, I’ll ask a question: is equality a “leftist idea”? It was in the Declaration of Independence. It in the Constitution, right there in the 14th Amendment. You talk about conservative women having a say—having a say in what? Restricting the rights, choices, and liberties of other women?

Back to the point you tried to make: if roles were reversed, and the GOP gave the nomination to a woman—something they’ve never done, whereas if Harris gets the nom we will have done it twice—we’d be subject to the same accusations and attacks from the Right if we didn’t vote for the conservative woman. Now, do you think those attacks would be damaging? Would they hold any weight? No, they wouldn’t, and that’s because we have a history of supporting women’s rights and freedoms.

Way to avoid the question
