On Sunday, Harris topped that single-day high with $28 million raised
at a star-studded Los Angeles event. The $55 million brought in last weekend throughout the tour of her hometown state adds to a record-setting war chest for the Harris campaign.
In August, her campaign
raised $361 million, almost triple the amount of Republican nominee former President Donald Trump ($130 million). September totals have not been announced yet.
Harris campaign officials said the former San Francisco district attorney will focus the remainder of her campaign’s attention on swing states, with just over a month to go before Election Day.
Tickets for Harris’ San Francisco fundraiser ranged from $500 to as much as $926,000.
The roughly 4,000-person, sold-out crowd included California Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, State Controller Malia Cohen, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu,
East Bay congressional candidate Lateefah Simon and House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. Both Simon and Pelosi spoke briefly before Harris.
The fundraiser also featured a performance of Andra Day singing “Rise Up.”
UCSF Dr. John Maa, a longtime Democratic National Convention organizer, said the event was unlike any of the many presidential campaign fundraisers he has attended before.
