Even if BTC is the most lucrative asset ever, that alone still isn't a reason justify the US govt investing bitcoin, because generating profits isn't one of the govt's functions. The times that the govt does invest directly in things its usually for the opposite reason.... Like subsidizing industries deemed economically vital but that wouldn't survive alone in the free market, or to bail out failing businesses deemed vital that nobody else is willing to invest in. Also it maintains reserve of certain vital assets like oil to avoid supply disruptions of those assets, not for profit.

BTC serves neither of these purposes. So still not seeing a reason to justify tax dollars to be used to prop up BTC.

We can't get rid of it.

We used to hold it because our currency is backed by it, and amassed huge reserves because of that, but that came end decades ago. Unfortunately though since its still held by other govts across the globe, and numerous investment institutions (some of the too big to fail guys), the US can't sell off its massive gold reserves without causing huge worldwide economic disruptions (a mess which it might have to clean up) when the price of gold tanks as a result.

what is amazing is that he is Catholic and the Catholic church allows for 4 holy ways to live life. clergy, monasticism, married and single celibate. all of these four have equal paths to holiness.

he seems to use his Christianity to justify his stance but he is in stark contrast to long held Christian teaching on the topic.
