Social Justin Trudeau announces resignation

Carney says he is going to scrap the carbon tax but he will just re name it or spin it a different way.
He isn't scrapping it entirely he said he is going to shit it towards corporations, so all the negative effects from the carbon tax that effect the cost of living will still be there, increased aswell.
You calling it "smart" from a gaming perspective is worrisome. Party before country is an ugly norm to settle on or cheer.

If the country needs a defined mandate in a time of crisis, waiting until October is not the right thing to do.
It's called being a cuck, an art in which Andy CPAP has mastered like no other.

How does it benefit the country to call an election when one party has just had a leadership convention and has had no time to prepare for an election while its main opposition has been campaigning for 2 years already? They've barely had time to turn on the heat in Carney's office, FFS.

Also, I'm only speaking on this from the point of view of what is reasonable compared with what they were alleging--authoritarian over-reach. And I didn't say to not have an election until October. I said they have no legal obligation to do so (sans a vote of no confidence, of course). As I said above, if no election has been called by the end of April, get back to me and we can talk about why. I don't think Carney will delay an election call beyond about the 21st because he and I seem to both be in agreement with you that a strong mandate from the electorate is important under the current circumstances.

Perhaps I was unclear in the difference (in my mind) between when it would be best for the country to call one and when they're obligated to call one by law.

I feel quite certain Carney will resume parliamentary sittings on schedule when the prorogue is supposed to expire and call an election shortly after, so I'm pushing back on the bullshit idea that Trudeau/the Liberal party are set to try and hold on to power regardless.

When do you guys get a vote?
Sometime between now and October I believe. October being the deadline where an election must happen and the time in between being their decision to enact one.

The idea was that the liberals would call for an election the moment a new leader was announced.

Some people are suggesting that the libs might hold on to power and not call an election to further consolidate a lead in the polls.

Yeah, I wonder where they got that idea?

Didn't the liberals call an election almost immediately after O'Toole became PC leader and not provide him anytime to prepare?

It is weird, that they are trying to say this guy was elected to replace Castro jr. No election.

They can trigger a real election at any time, but for some reason they won’t
They'll only do it when it's beneficial for their party. They know how to play the game I'll give those fuckers that much.

In the meantime, we are stuck with a globalist of the worst kind to contend with Trump. Knowing that Carney might not even stay in for much longer, Trump will undoubtedly antagonize the shit out of Canada until we finally elect a PM.

But you know, the liberals are doing this because they care.

The fact that the Carney can't address parliament as a non minister is doubling down on the clown show that is the liberal party. They can't argue the premise that they need a unified plan to deal with Trump while simultaneously prorogue parliament AND electing a guy who can't address parliament as leader. They were too feckless to pull the plug on Trudy prior to Trump being elected (of which tariff talks have been in play his entire campaign) and now shutting out parliament and voting in an unelected leader.

If the liberals don't call an election (outside a by election) and the NDP don't vote for a non confidence measure ....Canadians should riot.

Holy fuck at the people they won't call an election. Carney isn't even officially PM yet, and there have been no statements.

Did black/brown face resign yet, or is he still trying to hold on to (white) power?

Listening to Chretien was harder than listening to RFK Jr. The former prime minister holds the distinction for being difficult to understand in both official languages.

Chretien reminded me of Reagan, seeming dumb and smart at the same time. Chretien could deflect a question with a quip, and people would forget the deflection because of the entertainment value of the quip. Chretien being grilled by Nardwuar the Human Serviette about pepper spray is a thing that happened.

"pepper, I put it on my plate"

Lmao

Pepper, I put it on my plate, Next

Funny fucker

Sorry pal. You guys became the 12th province a few weeks ago. Hope ya like good weed and better beer.
Not sure if this is a dig at the US, or Canucks. But Canada had some pretty good brews back in the day before US microbrews became popular. I love me some La Fin de Monde.
