Paddy pimblett has the worst striking defense I've seen in quite a while. No supposed top guy gets hit with power shots that much.

Paddy just isn't as good as people thought he was. Myself included. Props to Justin for getting the W regardless, winning at 38 in LW division is not easy.

I've been always thinking the LW division is just waiting for someone to poke and pop that ranking bubble. Most of the time the fighters who fight each other have been keeping their rank every time they take a fight outside it. I was sure Paddy would just be too big and young and out point and grind a decision out. Gaethje has just enough at his age to still be effective.

That's also because they've been quite selective about who they've given opportunities to.

If Gaethje had faced Arman instead of Fiziev x2, would he had won?

Would Poirier beat Arman when he fought Bsd?

Likewise if Gaethje had faced Arman instead of Paddy for the interim.

Half the top 5 guys were only 2-1, 1-2 records, while tons of guys were on 4+ win streaks over the same amount of time. I thought even Paddy would poke holes in this. Even still, I wonder if those eye pokes made him look worse than usual, atleast watching it seemed like Paddy operated differently after he got poked.

Yeah, not only that but these guys have had multiple title shots. Only Olivera really became champ. It's coming soon enough. Kind of hope Topuria retires early if he's going to be inactive like this too.

I dunno why people shit on Gaethje for having poor submission defense or wrestling. The only people who have subbed him are Khabib and Charles who are at the very least two all time great lightweights. The only guys to knock him out were Eddie and Dustin, also both top lightweights with a case for Dustin as an ATG. If a fighter is shit for losing to those dudes, then who is even a good fighter?

I was honestly impressed with Paddy's chin. That Scouser really doesn't get knocked out. Those same shots that Paddy took have KO'd and knocked down other fighters. But he really needs to improve his defense, you're right. Can't be doing that forever. Not much else about his performance was impressive.
