J.K. Simmons Explains "Gym Gordon" Workout Viral Photos

JK-Simmons-Workout-062816-Dragonlord.jpg

Actor J.K. Simmons has been cast as Commissioner Gordon in Warner Bros. upcoming Justice League, a casting that was met with a warm reception from the enthusiast community when it was originally announced.

Then recently some pictures of the actor in the gym popped up online, showing the actor extremely buff with a full beard, a look that most don't associate with the character. Many thought it might be a new look for the film specifically, but in an interview with Business Insider, he put those fears to rest.

"This is all coincidental. After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life."

Simmons assured fans that the character will be someone they recognize. "I'm not going to mess with something that iconic," he said.

As for his buff look, it's just a lifestyle thing, and has been for quite a while, and it started back during his time on the HBO show OZ.

"I was not in good shape at all," he said. "I was overweight and soft and here I am playing the head of the Aryan Brotherhood in this maximum-security prison in the first-ever HBO original drama and I was watching the first season when it came out and I just thought, 'Wow, I don't believe this guy at all. I have to get my a-- to the gym and be a believable hard-a--.'"

"Those were shot at the end of April. I'm huge now!" Simmons joked.

Hey @Dragonlordxxxxx have you done any fantasy casting for Fourth World characters? I know there will never be a Fourth World movie, but I'd be curious who'd you cast for major characters such as Orion, Darkseid, Scott Free, Big Barda, Metron, Highfather, Granny Goodness, hell ever Superman and Jimmy Olsen.
I haven't done any Fourth World fancast yet.

Currently, I'm fancasting and writing the story for a Namor the Sub-Mariner movie. It started out with me working on Thor 3 and 4 but my mind wandered off and now I'm making Namor.

Julian Lewis Reveals He Has a Role in JUSTICE LEAGUE

Julian-Lewis-Justice-League-Dragonlord_1.jpg

In a recent interview, 48-year-old Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones revealed that he has a role in Zack Snyder's Justice League, though he wouldn't share any details.

“I’m not allowed to say yet what part I play," Jones told WalesOnline, "but let’s just say I’ve a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made."

Jones currently plays Karl Morris in the British comedy series, Stella, and has appeared inThe Tudors and Spooks, but stateside, he's probably best known for playing Etienne Feyder, the head of Nelson Mandela's bodyguard team, in Clint Eastwood's Invictus (2009).

Epic Fan-Made Trailer for JUSTICE LEAGUE

Ah yes, the Super Mullet.

i think I have my fantasy casting for Barda - Katie Sachhoff (Riddick, BSG). She can act, do action and she's got the physical presence.

though i do agree, something is seriously wrong with her left arm in that pic.

"Oof" is right. I don't think he really gets why BvS wasn't as well liked as he expected. It's not just about the tone, although I think that's a part of it. It's that the main characters did things that didn't make logical sense or have any supporting reasons. Batman wants to kill Superman because... is explained in one throwaway line about a 1% chance of something maybe happening. I kinda want to see the Ultimate Edition just to see if what was cut was more of the character motivation.

I didn't mind the grim and gritty tone. it's a nice counterpart to the MCU tone. But it needs to be done well. If you're going to have a "serious" superhero movie it really needs to have solid characters, motivations and logic (at least internally consistent logic, since we are talking about superheros here). Now I'm worried that JL is just going to be a copy of the MCU movies, which will be disappointing.

Agreed. Movie was rushed, had too many things going on, and all they see is "Add more humor, it works for Marvel". The extended edition was better, as i it did explain a few things. It still has it's faults, but it is better.

It's the same thing with movies now aiming for the R rating, solely due to the success of Deadpool. It's not about the humor or R rating, you idiots. It's about good character development, good scripts, people taking a stand on the way they see the movie going and not caving to executives' demands, making a movie good by itself and going along with the sequel/overall universe.

I didn't notice it at first, but on the second viewing you can actually see him holding his breath. I know, it's a little thing, but i think it should be taken care of for JL and his solo movie...

"My name is Steppenwolf."

Holy shit someone isolated the audio from the communion scene and found this:

After all that time speculating who that was and it was there the whole time.

I thought Darkseid is a big factor in the JL cinematic universe. Arent they doing something like Amazonians and Atlanteans teamed up ages ago to drive away Darkseid?

I have no idea. I haven't seen any of the DCCU films yet. I did read they were teasing Darkseid in Bats v Supes.

There will likely never be an actual Forth World live action movie, which is what I was asking Dragon to cast.

It'd be great as a series or mini-series, but I doubt it happens.

Apparently Steppenwolf was supposed to be in BVS, or people think that was Steppenwolf. I think it just some creature. But it was cut out of the theatrical version.

Is that in the extended edition?

I did read Steppenwolf is going to be the big bad of Justice League Part 1 (or are they not doing two parts now?)
