So since Justice League is going to have a strong Jack Kirby influence that means his family will get some of the money made by the movie right?...
They tried a lighter scene in BVS: "Is she with you? No, i thought she was with you"
At that point the audience cringed and i went back to counting how many milk duds i had left in the box.
That being said, i would love to watch a super dark version of the Injustice story line - i think Leto would kill it in that.
It is one little quib, while Cap Winter Grunge, Civil Dispute, and all the Avengers, Thor, Iron Man are over saturated with it. How did audiences react when the Mandarin turned out not to be the Mandarin but some homeless drunk hippy?
They still shelled out to the tune of $409 Mil 1.2 Billion worldwide.
The Marvel Formula works .
A movie with the DC trinity to include a proven Box Office entity in Batman couldn't even crack 350 Million domestic nor 900 mil worldwide .
I dont know the actual budgets but DC only really has BVS and Man of Steel. I dont think Chris Nolan's trilogy is being counted. Marvel biggest success is Cap Civil Dispute. I dont know the take from the other shitty movies they made, but they are all family friendly adventure movies.
It is like comparing the first two Mummy Brendan Fraser movies to the Gril with the Dragon tattoo movie. Or the Star Wars prequels to the Alien and or Blade Runner.
C'mon now, you should know that's not a fair comparison. Not only does MCU have double the number of films but the worldwide market has exploded in the last decade which SW didn't benefit from except for EP7. Not to mention that the domestic totals ignore the 30+ year gap between the highest grossing films in the respective series. If you correct for the major factors (ticket inflation, population, moviegoing popularity) then A New Hope pulled the modern equivalent of $1.4bil domestic. If you make those corrections for all films in both series then SW absolutely crushes the MCU in domestic. It kicks ass in total ($5.34bil vs $4.12bil) and especially in per-film average ($762.6mil vs $317.2mil).The Marvel Cinematic Universe has grossed over 3.9 billion domestic and 10 Billion worldwide. Star Wars is off by more than 1 billion in both categories.

While I agree that GwtW isn't really a fair comparison due to the differences in competition and length of release, but 1977 isn't 1939. And I'm not just doing a straight ticket price adjustment when I gave those numbers. I also correct for how popular going to the movies is as well by looking at total ticket sales for the year (which itself has a built-in population correction).Don't mean to diminish Star Wars but for my point was for emphasizing how far ahead the MCU is to the DCEU. Aaaand I am not a Star Wars fan boy , I've seen the movies they just don't resonate with me. I don't hold adjusting movies for inflation in high regard when you consider that per Era the number of movie choices available varied , which is why adjusted for inflation Gone with the Windows being the highest grossing film of all time makes me roll my eyes when I read it.
I want Barda to be sexy but not Chyna-looking.

Zack Snyder Admits BVS Backlash Forced Him to Change JUSTICE LEAGUE's Tone
![]()
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice certainly has its fair share of fans, but there are a lot of people who really didn't like what Zack Snyder did with that movie (particularly critics). While the filmmaker weighed in on the reviews when the movie's press tour reached the UK, reporters inevitably pushed him for more on that backlash and the impact it may have had on how Justice League has developed.
"When Batman v Superman came out, I was like, ‘Wow, okay, oof,’" the filmmaker admitted in an interview with Vulture. "It did catch me off guard. I have had to, in my mind, make an adjustment. I do think that the tone of Justice League has changed because of what the fans have said." It seems to have worked too, because all we keep hearing in these set visits is how much fun the movie looks!
"You really had to dig down on the darker parts of them to make them fight each other," he said. "I really do believe that with this movie, with Justice League, they’ve been freed of the responsibility to be in a place where they would fight each other. That’s liberating for us in making the movie, because now we have a single enemy with a single objective, and it’s really about uniting the team. That, to me, is a fun activity."
Zack Snyder Talks Batman v Superman Backlash; Admits Fan Response Changed Justice League's Tone
"Oof" is right. I don't think he really gets why BvS wasn't as well liked as he expected. It's not just about the tone, although I think that's a part of it. It's that the main characters did things that didn't make logical sense or have any supporting reasons. Batman wants to kill Superman because... is explained in one throwaway line about a 1% chance of something maybe happening. I kinda want to see the Ultimate Edition just to see if what was cut was more of the character motivation.
I didn't mind the grim and gritty tone. it's a nice counterpart to the MCU tone. But it needs to be done well. If you're going to have a "serious" superhero movie it really needs to have solid characters, motivations and logic (at least internally consistent logic, since we are talking about superheros here). Now I'm worried that JL is just going to be a copy of the MCU movies, which will be disappointing.
