Usually when this rivalry is up to discussion i hear a lot of people saying Weidman dominated all 4 rounds, the rematch was definitely(although Silva actually fucked Weidman`s nose up from the guard lol) all Weidman but man, that first fight was fantastic competitively speaking.
Weidman came out strong, took Silva down, GnP him a little bit and actually got Silva in some trouble with a Submission attempt. But then things changed, Silva defended perfectly and got up, and Weidman was getting fucked up badly.
Anderson was starting to do what he wanted and Weidman was starting to be where Silva wanted.
He initiate the taunting and got in Weidman`s head, he wanted him in a kickboxing fight and Weidman gave it to him, and because of that Silva was having an amazing sucess with leg kicks, conected some solid combinations with knees and punches and you could see in Weidman`s face his frustration and his pride getting in the way, zero takedown attempts in the next 3 and half minutes and getting kicked the shit out of him, 2 more minutes in that round and i think Silva would have TKO`ed him.
Very, very close round but Weidman edge it with the GnP and submission attempt, but that break and his corner advice for the 2 round was truly what gave him that world title, he recomposed himself, Ray Longo brought him back to their gameplan and we saw a new Weidman in that second round, focused, patient and when the oportunity came he put on an fantastic combo, jab, right hook, inverse right hook who tricked Silva in thinking that was a left hook so he wouldn`t need to move another step back and would maintain a safe distance with Weidman, but actually Weidman was already throwing a left hook who caught Silva right in the chin because he maintained that distance were he thought he would be safe, beautiful stuff.
I still have a lot of questions after those 2 fights but no doubt Weidman won fair and square, but he didn`t dominate Silva in the first fight like the majority says
