Just had an incident with a Pharmacist today

In Bay Area, California a lot of PharmD's make ~$150k per year. I know several that do. Problem is everyone makes that much in the Bay and still can't afford to buy a home unless on the outskirts. Dual income at $150 each, you're good on a $1 mil home without being house poor if you got the downpayment to drop.

Anyway that sounded very unprofessional coming from a pharmacist. I would have reported that person. Now a days you got these young 25-26 year old millennial pharmacist that blast through undergrad and pharm school, but lack other skills.

I used to get prescriptions filled at Walgreens.... out of nowhere I think there was some weird policy change but the pharmacists and techs would loudly proclaim the medication you were picking up right in front of the all the other waiting customers.

You'd walk up and quietly say you're there to pick up a prescription and say your name.... Dbag pharmacy bitch would find the little bag, loudly read your name and the medication back to you as if verifying it was correct. The last straw for me was when they loudly told all of us that the lady at the counter was picking up some vag meds.... I emailed a complaint while I stood in line and then told my tech that I think they're breaking hipa laws.

Walgreens emailed me asking what store this happened and that was the last I heard from them

It is most definitely a violation of HIPAA, especially if you could remember the lady's name. You wouldn't get any money out of it, but you'd definitely put them on check. What state do you live in? Some states have their own privacy laws; I'm only familiar with California's laws.

can someone explain to me why these folks make that much money? do they have to be knowledgeable on tons of different drugs? there has to be a reason why they make that kind of cash.

Hydrocodone for a sprained ankle from 3 weeks ago...

Lmao
First thing I thought too.

You don't need Hydrocodone for a sprained ankle. You need over the counter meds and to stay off of it for a bit with some compression and elevation.

This happened in Oregon

like . . . .

Depending on the pharmacy they sometimes actually mix the drugs and determine dosage . . . I'm not a pharmacist so outside of that you're on your own to figure out.

But they're definitely not just some glorified cashier . . .

With all of these "ask me anything" threads around here this week maybe a pharmacist can start one to provide some insight.

Sometimes that's right out of pharmacy school right? Maybe I should've been a pharmacist.

lol hydrocodone for a sprained ankle..

Jeeze I've broken my ankle twice and ended up just popping Tylenol as recommended

You might not be a drug abuser but you set off all the flags

Pharmacy you dont normally go to

Rx for widely abused drug

Asking for it by generic brands

And thats just what

Also Lol at you know which generics you like and dont off a sprained ankle from like a week ago

How do you even go to a different pharmacy? Here, the doctor sends the prescription to the pharmacy you tell them to. They won't give you a paper to take with you for opiates. People copy it and go to various pharmacies.

They get paid a lot because they deal with a lot of bullshit like crackheads and people screaming at them when their free health care doesn't go through.

Plus they also need to know the drugs they're giving out and make sure it's safe for that patient.

Damn, hydrocodone for a sprained ankle? I sprained my ankle one time in hs and a few years after. I never had to take that.
I severely sprained both ankles a few years ago after a scaffolding collapsed, I didn't take anything

No wonder so many are fecked up on prescription drugs

Sounds like something that should be automated
