junior tafa = trash

Ah, Toquiño the Terrible. The man that straight up ripped knees to shreds every chance he got, tap be damned.
Those were dangerous times.
And then

Haha he was a fucking monster

He had a very poor upbringing, I remember this UFC preview they did with him

He talked about having mud floor growing up, working a job carrying bricks or something when he was like 7 years old IIRC, and the giant scar he has on his chest is from some work related injury when he was a kid and they didn't have money for hospital so they just used regular glue and glued that shit back together

What's funny, is Big John Mccarthy having covered this very topic a number of times before, covered it again on his post show podcast with Josh Thomson. And even mentioned how he's explained this very rule to Dom backstage before some of his fights back when he reffed. So Dom should definitely have known.

great post man,

quoting so more will read it

Word, I remember Rogan and Goldberg mentioning his upbringing but hadn't heard all that.
Tbf, I don't think he's done anything like that in years at this point. I remember his bout vs Garry Tonon at Polaris back in like 16 or 17, and Garry made it a point to say that Rousimar had kept it all on the up and up.

When he was in the heyday of ruining knees I always thought he did it because he wanted to put the fear in future opponents, which.. probably worked well.

But knowing his upbringing, talking about getting his mom a house and stuff.. When he gripped onto that leg it was probably life or death for him and he completely zones out and you're gonna need a crowbar to pry him off because that's money on his family's table on the line

He seems to be a nice guy, I remember him visiting cancer hospitals and what not

Tafa & Tuivasa should both be cut, I firmly believe Tuivasa is the worst fighter in the UFC currently.

Hopefully going forward this makes it clear as daylight to fighters that if they scream or yell in pain from a sub that the ref will stop it.

They should know that already, but still.

I'm pretty sure refs tell them that backstage before every fight, Tafa just did what he did because he's a sore loser and knows he's getting the boot.
