Judo blackbelts in MMA

Thank You! Added Denis. Always a hassle with the Russian judoka to find their actual Dan rank since Russia has the "Master of Sports" titles instead. From what I can gather, the "basic" MoS is 1 Dan, the National MoS is 2-4 Dan, the International MoS is 4-6 Dan so I marked Denis as 4 Dan.

Some links and a HL vid:

......
I though MoS has to be earned through (national level) competition, not dan ranks and getting such a title is not easy. MoS equates roughly with being a national champ -

You are right and I believe that Dan ranks may be awarded accordingly with the Judoka's competition success - problem is, Russian websites don't provide the Dan ranks, just the MoS title, hence my approximation.

If anyone has a better (or official) Dan to MoS mapping or the actual Dan rank of Denis - please do let me know!

This was fantastic! I had to rewind to spot the trip at 1:34, it looked like he just threw the guy down like he was a drunk at the bar.

I'd never heard of him before, but I'm excited to see this guy fight. I definitely going to check out the other HL videos in the thread.

Following the warm reception of my comprehensive Karate blackbelts in MMA thread I have decided to do the same for my other favorite martial art - Judo.

Below You will find a list of Judo blackbelts (with their respective Dan rank) who have fought in MMA. I have collected 108 Judoka so far. Please let me know in you find any inaccuracies in the list or notice that any Judoka is missing - I will gladly correct and add if applicable.

It would be great if this thread also becomes a starting point for discussion about Judo's history and usefulness in MMA - like it happened in the Karate thread. Thanks and enjoy!

Whatever the case may be with the criminal allegations, I am adding this guy to the list as he is a nine-time national champion and holds 2nd dan black belt in the sport.

NEW FIGHTER ADDED!

Richard Allan Crunkilton Jr (born November 25, 1979) is an American mixed martial artist. Crunkilton is perhaps best known for his 8–2 stint with the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion and this cool toss:
