Media Juan Espino believes Romanov took the easy way out: "You took the victory, but it cost you respect"

Lol man, he faked a nut shot and then over-acted. The ref is going off his reaction, the rules have holes that allow this because the ref can't know if the guy is pretending or not. Upon review, his reaction is not even close to proportional to the strike, which doesn't even look like it lands on the cup and carries very little power, so it's pretty obvious. He's an undefeated fighter with some hype who was gasing and getting outwrestled. Didn't want to take an L, or wanted an excuse for his L.

No, I honestly have no clue what you meant by that.

He didn't break any rules, it's worse than the Yan fight. Look at the Prograis vs Redkach finish from last night. Guy was losing and completely faked a nut shot. They took him out in a stretcher and he didn't even get hit, it was ridiculous. The ref called it a low blow because he didn't see it. Very similar situation. He still lost, but he wanted to save face by not getting finished. In this case, he even got a cheap win due to shitty judges.
Don't bother with him. He has chosen to huff on aljo's anal vapor because of the trolling cos he has literally nothing else going for him.

Translation: My gameplan was to go for him in the 3rd round, that's why I pushed the pace from the beggining.

Translation: Now is moment to be sincere and with that I do not want to take away merit from my opponent (if he has any). I was injured from one arm and that is why I could not perform as I would have liked to, I know how things work outside and you cannot ever let the decision to the judges. I am not apologizing, I think I won the first and thrid round, and when I saw my opponent performance (or act, not sure what he refers here) I felt embarrassed for him. He was suposed to destroy me, undefeated, favorite, younger, no one wanted to fight him, but he went away of what it was waiting for him in the 3rd round, I was going to destroy him. I did my best, and thats the only thing that makes me feel better. Thank you sincerly for all your support.

Thanks for the update.

Romanov has became the ultimate heel on Sherdog.

Looking forward to see everybody here crying and bashing him for his next fight.

Nah. He was
Blasted in the
Balls and couldn’t get up.

It’s almost as if u can’t believe what your own eyes saw. Are you high?
Either you are trolling or you are a massive fucking idiot that needs glasses.

No he hasnt become a heel. People just having a natural reaction to him ruining the fight.
But im sure it will be very entertaining to see your knee jerk contrarian bullshit

Nope.. I have lost interest in watching him. Not because the nut shot (as someone who was kicked in the balls several times in training I will give him the benefit of the doubt).. but because he gassed and was taken down and controlled easily.
With his offensive grappling one could expect him to be dominant to a certain level.. but his defense is just not there.

Not to take merits off Espino. I think the dude should get a top 15 guy since his time is running off. Feed him Sakai or something.

He clearly got hit in the balls but I thought it was funny how he was in agony, said he couldn't even straighten his leg and then the moment the fight is called off, he's on his feet and standing for the decision.

Says the guy who knee'd his opponent in the balls to get a breather. Thats certainly what it looked like anyways.

How did the fight go to a decision as if the 3rd round concluded. Is this some new rule. I'm confused. Never seen that happen
Fight was more than half over (in the third round of a 3-round fight) so they score the incomplete round and go to the scorecards. Not a new rule but it happens rarely.

To be fair to Romanov, he was taken down 4 times in the fight. The first time, he landed flat on his back with Espino in side control, and a legit BJJ black belt held him down for over a minute. The other three times he got taken down, he stood right back up without any difficulty.

He said he can't feel his legs etc.
What a joke
No, not really, there was problem with translation. He clearly said - nemogu na nogy, which means - I cant stand up ...

BTW I dont understand why they didnt even wait 5 minutes before calling fight off.

Juan Espino releases statement after odd technical split decision loss to Alexandr Romanov

“Now it’s time to be honest and with this I do not want to detract from my rival if he has it. I was injured in one arm so I could not perform at the level that I would have liked, I know how things work out and you can never leave that to the discretion of the judges. I’m not apologizing either, I think I won the first, third rounds and when I saw the performance of my rival I felt someone else’s shame,” Espino wrote. “He was supposed to be someone who was going to beat me up, undefeated, favorite, younger, nobody wanted to fight with him because he ran away because in the third round he was going with everything. I did my best and that alone will let my head leave me alone. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the infinite support.”
