Jose Aldo's Takedown Defense vs Edgar (Gif)

How he just tossed Edgar aside like he was nothing was very impressive.
 
His takedown defence is just perfect. Makes it even better when you think how good an MMA wrestler Edgar is.

Edgar's entrances aren't poor, his followthrough isn't bad, his reactive timing is good, but none of it matters. It's insane.
 
When Jose got pushed up against the cage I was waiting for him to whistle and wait for Edgar to back away. tonight was the first time I've seen Edgar look super desperate LOL. Aldo landed a lot of clean counters and that takedown defense was crazy, push aside takedown defense man.

Except Edgar, I think Frankie's quickness just bothers Mendes, if they fought again I'd take Edgar.
 
Incredible stuff there from Jo-say. Had to be super demoralizing for Frankster.
 
aldo's tdd is insane frankie had no answers for everything that was going on in that fight got outwrestled and outstriked

Aldo has that insane BJ Penn type balance that allows him to stay up right, even when someone's deep on his legs/hips. Plus his cardio/pacing looked much, much improved tonight.

I disagree, i think Mendes is a worse fight for Edgar than Aldo is at his best. Mendes's takedown defense is better than Aldo's, Mendes counters well and has heavy hands, Mendes's pressure footwork is second to only maybe McGregor, and even then, McGregor hasn't shown that great of pressure footwork on anybody but Siver. I think that, by the time that Mendes fought Edgar, he was damaged goods. Not to take anything away from Edgar, Edgar stuck in the pocket and knocked Mendes out clean, but Mendes had been in a horrifying war with Aldo where he was knocked down 3 times and knocked out by McGregor just a few months earlier. Add on the Aldo knockout in the first place, and Mendes had taken a bunch of damage.
 
A wonderful way to defend a takedown, grab the guy by the face and dump him into the mat lol
 
When you have that kind of balance and technical tdd, you also have confidence to throw strikes like knees or elbows when the other guy shoots.

Crazy stuff. Aldo is a scary beast.
 
Frankie was really banking on Aldo still suffering from the effects of the McGregor KO and not being himself. I think he expected Aldo to just fall over and wilt under his pressure. What a rude awakening last night was.
 
Everyone was saying Jo-say looked older. That was because this was not Jose Aldo Junior it was is elder more experienced father. The Jose Aldo. Thats why he looked so good out there.
 
I think it's between Aldo and Jones for best TDD.

Aldo made Edgar look like an amateur wrestler in that fight.
 
That one where Frankie was deep on a single and Aldo did the little side hop to defend it was stunning. It didn't even look real. It looked like he turned on a cheat code in a video game.
 
Most of those TDs were "naked". Edgar didn't set them up with his hands. You ain't gonna take Aldo down like that. Really baffled by the way Edgar fought, he made almost no adjustments from the first fight and lost pretty much like the first time they fought.
 
I think the best part of Jose's performance tonight was his mind. With Conor right in the front row Aldo pulled out an amazing win. He wasn't rattled at all, I was most curious if his mind would be ok...110% was.
