He made the best choice.
Fans fail to see the fighters side.
But most mma fans are fair-weather at best.
 
Not taking a fight 2-3 months after being knocked out is a smarter move than fighting anyone. Money doesn't matter if you end up Ali.

He got knocked out brutally a little less than just 2 1/2 months ago. Taking a short notice fight (less than 2 weeks) against the same guy that brutally KO'ed him wasn't going to happen. I wouldn't have taken it either, and I'm a huge McGregor fan. Aldo should be doing what he's doing now, resting a bit and waiting several months more to fight. You can't just jump back into the cage after you've been knocked out cold like that, it isn't healthy and it isn't smart.
 
Turned down another $5 million?
 
It's probably better for him to fight and Lose than to not fight at all. He's probably never going to get another chance. Weird.
 
Everyone talks a big game, but when it comes down to signing on the dotted line and stepping into that octagon to face the Mystical One the only thing making noise are the crickets.

On the contrary -- he made the one of the dumbest choices in MMA history if this is true.


Two options -- take the fight or turn it down


Take the fight -- you'll probably lose, be no worse off than you already were, but make a shitload of money and at least have a shot at redemption.


Turn down the fight -- no big payday, no shot at redemption, and every fan in the world thinks you're a little bitch now


That seems like about as easy a choice as you can have. Especially after everything he's said.

He does not have to bend to the will of the Ufc and step in unprepared to help them save face.

I don't know when money became the sole motivator in MMA.
Fans use it is the be all end all form of leverage.
 
anyone with a legit shot in the future is not taking a fight with someone like Conor on 10 days notice, certainly not in a weight class he's never fought in. It's just not smart. Aldo will get his rematch, but he won't get number 3 if he jumps in on 10 days notice and loses. He knows this.

Agreed 100%.

It was he that put up a plea tweet saying hell be ready in the event. Ufc calls & he sings a different song. Jesus, fuck a full training camp, he had not one but two and look what it got him.

He not only loses his immediate shot he was begging for, ill bet he worsens his relationship with the ufc.

He has a win win win situation and he is going to piss it away.
