Media Jose Aldo responds to criticism regarding the matchmaking of fights in his final UFC run

he didnt "know it was never gonna happen" until he got to the weigh ins. then he realized that it wasnt happening and took the appropriate action. Zahabi didnt seem to care, he just stopped trying to make weight.

ive seen you slag the dude multiple times in previous threads, so if youre a fan, youre not a big one.

and that lady has resting bitch face, which matched the tone of your post

So, Aldo didn't know he was going to miss by a whole weight class until he got to the weigh-ins?

You can't seriously believe this nonsense hahaha.

And what do you mean Zahabi stopped trying to make weight? The article you linked literally says he cut down to an "early 136" for BW, then rehydrated back up to 142. He made BW.

I've only slagged Aldo off over this. It was a shit thing for him to do.

If it had been the other way around people would be calling for Zahabi's head.

"people"?
slightly intelligent people knew what context means and when it's the case to look at all circumnstances, you are thinking about only the usual easily indignantable, obtuse fanatics, they always find a way to be outraged and make it public as much as possible... oh wait...

fighters think theyre gonna make weight all the time and then dont, Aldo's not the only guy or girl who has done that
136 is just for championship bouts, no? 135 for regular BW bouts. unless they changed the rules on weigh ins again.

Zahabi didnt seem to give a shit, if anything he was relieved to not be so drained. it wasnt a professional move by Aldo, but it ultimately didnt affect Zahabi much at all, seeing as how he actually did win.

There should be multiple goats. Like Jose should be recognized as the FW goat and just the goat of acting like a champion his whole career. I think about his recent wins over Moicano and Stephens as examples of his killer instinct never leaving him. I think we all wonder what a Jose Aldo with invincible legs would’ve been like.

They need to give Aldo a legends retirement fight. CCC or Fig would be good choices since I doubt Cruz can.

Or you don't like someone who signs on for a BW fight, decides to just make FW instead without telling his opponent who then goes on to make BW and then accepts the fight with you anyway.

That's a real pos move.
Nobody is perfect but the guy embodies what it is to be a champ for 20 years. The + will always be far superior to the - in his case.

Mate, I completely respect that opinion, but personally I just don't share it. I've appreciated Aldo since I started watching him back in the WEC days, but I guess I just expected someone like him to go out in a better way, win or lose.

When fighters think they're going to make the weight and then don't they're a pound or less over, not a whole weight class over lol.

They all weigh themselves throughout the week leading up to the weigh ins. You think Aldo was there a day before the weigh ins, knowing he was FW, and thinking he was somehow still going to weigh in at BW as soon as he stepped on the scales? hahaha. Come on, man. Don't be silly. Give Aldo some credit here. He's been doing this for decades. He's not some idiot.

And Zahabi did give a shit or he wouldn't have mentioned it on the mic in his post fight interview. And it did affect him because he looked way out-sized in the actual fight.

And yes, it's 135 for BW bouts. Read that article you linked again though. Zahabi posted a video of him weighing 136 "early". He then rehydrated back up to 142 before the weigh-ins when he found out BW wasn't happening. So, he still had to go through the process of cutting down way more while Aldo did not. There's a big difference on your body between cutting down and not having to cut down. Zahabi would have been way better if he could have just stopped at FW and not had to bother with all that shit.

So, what's the context other than Aldo knew he wasn't going to make FW and left it way late to say he wasn't going to make it while Zahabi got down to BW and then had to rehydrate back up?
