News Jose Aldo Officially RETIRES - "Don't Have It In Me Anymore"

That was so fucking crazy.

Aldo was on the cusp of WINNING and blows himself to Hel. Awesome fight, either way. He gritted it out and went out on his shield.

It's interesting to see how many peeps thought Aldo won.

I was going for Aldo but I still had it 29-28 Zahabi.

Technique wise Aldo is still fully capable of being competitive. However his gas tank has been progressively becoming worse over the life of his career. I don't know if it's a medical condition, muscle gain, age or a combination of the three but the decline is evident

Hard to take this seriously for now. He retired before, plus he's said it right after losing a fight and a day before was saying he'd continue at FW, where the weight cut is easier.

It's not a matter of "taking it seriously"

Aldo is a serious man. If he changes his mind it doesn't mean you don't take what he says seriously. He was devastated walking to the back. It is a struggle for him to not be what he once was. He is trying to figure out what is best for him.

He was on a five fight win streak with four finishes going into that Aldo fight. It was a young division and he fought Aldo at the apex of his powers. Despite Aldo being sick to the extent that they removed him from the champions gathering pre-event and he collapsed afterward, Aldo fucked him up so much that he had a head growing out of his head.

Fucked him up so bad he couldn’t even finish him and then definitively lost the 5th Round probably in 10-8 fashion lmao. His record going into that fight was 20-8 and he lost to several scrubs. Let’s not act like Mark was some straight up killer just to prop up Aldo.

Oh shit, I'm convinced. R5 was 10-8? Lol.

Yves was 14-4 going into the Hominick fight.
Caraway was 14-3 going into the Hominick fight.
Garcia was 15-4 going into the Hominick fight.

And then he fought Aldo.

Hominick beat scrubs, I guess.

Fucking stupid, lol.

Yeah, right. Another combat fighter who "retires." Isn't this his second retirement?

See you on an Apex card this fall, Jose. Hopefully you can make weight this time.

He lost to a bunch of scrubs. He was a mid tier fighter who beat some other mid tier fighters. Fucking Bryan Tate lmao.

This guy was the Anderson of the lighter divisions in his prime. he was the best no doubt.

If Aldo has officially retired for real this time he is one of the best of all time but unfortunately I think he loses GOAT status and that is his own doing. I would have him currently second behind Volkanovski in the Featherweight GOAT conversation and it is debatable if he is a top 5 fighter all time with his resume (I would say no currently). I believe he should have gone up to Lightweight between 2012 to 2014, and some of his career moves have been questionable.

How many career losses does Aldo have at this point? Surely double digits?
