I’m genuinely confused why people act like Jordan Peterson is dangerous. I don’t really listen to either of them, but from what I have heard from excerpts, he just seems like a life coach or something.

Same reason people acted like Donald Trump was dangerous. Mainstream influence.

I like jordan peterson and never really cared much for sam harris. I find Harris to be kinda boring and sorta PC unless he's shitting on religion like he likes to do. Jp just tells it how it is

I think Sam's problem is that he completely separates the human system, other than intellect, from the associations with spiritual aspects and archetypes. They were (with humor) using the argument of God not wanting you to masturbate, for example, and it seems clear that at least one interpretation of benefit would be concerning that of energy in the body. And this is just one very obvious example of energy involved, and the (power of) subtlety of mind beyond intellect or discourse.

What's confusing to me is that he does, I think, claim to have some spiritual consideration, but the way he treats these ideas in his approach to understanding the various aspects of spirituality and religion leads me to believe that it is not self-honest.

It's fine if he wants to make an atheistic type argument from any point of view, but his portrayal of being kind of both and something new seems lacking.

Harris by far.. Jordan, although I enjoy him, is a mentally ill narcissist.

Is this one of the Peterson s that murdered their wives?

A self-help guru that turned himself into a vegetable because of his drug addictions is an odd man to turn to for life advice.

Clean your room!

I don't mind the advice Peterson gives young people (even though it's honestly pretty rudimentary) it's when he veers in to politics, where he demonstrates his lack of knowledge. The debate with Zizek highlighted it (cue someone posting a clip of Zizek saying he agrees while ignoring how Zizek was confounded that Peterson hadn't read anything of Marx outside of the simplistic manifesto) how he was completely out of his depth. Harris is just a poor mans intellectual, and the correspondence with Chomsky demonstrated how he can't construct his argument around real world events, and instead resorts to concocting his own narrative that he can control; the "perfect weapon" argument.

I like Sam Harris' political commentary, which is really not that different from Peterson's (both classical liberals). But Sam Harris is boring and generic apart from that, nothing revolutionary or even interesting to say.
Peterson is pretty good at noticing things that are below the surface, but you wouldn't have noticed them if he hadn't articulated it explicitly. That aspect makes him interesting because you come out like "Huh, hadn't thought of that." You don't need to agree with it; it's a new perspective to add in the pile. At this point I've watched a lot of his content and it's old news, gets repetitive.

Jordan Peterson owns up to his faults and his efforts to correct them.

It's like how elite athletes fail to become great coaches, they just can't relate to anyone who isn't elite.

If you're looking for self help, you better go to someone who knows what it's like to need help, only they are going to be able to really help you.

So why don't you look to the beam in your own eye before the mote of dust in your brothers?

??? That's fine that Peterson owned up to his faults, but I still prefer to listen to Sam Harris. Are you cool with that?

I saw some debate in which Sam seemed to have the upper hand. If nothing else hes at least a better debater.

But i personally like Peterson better because he comes across as more authentic and genuine.

Dangerous? Shit. More than "dangerous." The current writer of Captain America has modeled their interpretation of The Red Skull, the uber-nazi and most despised villain in the Marvel Universe, after a Canadian psych professor who talks like Kermit the Frog.
