Jones Would Sub Alex In The 1st Round

Do people not understand that Heavyweights generally have less skill then all the other weight classes? It's not surprising that he could do that to Gane. (rare exceptions like Mir, Big Nog, Aspinall)

Periera has way better grappling D then Gane.
Jan who is a black belt in BJJ couldn't finish Alex from rear naked choke position. And this was several months ago where Periera has only improved since then.

Jon Jones has never been kicked in the leg by someone like Periera which can be a HUGE game changer and boxing offense/defense has always been the weakest part of Jones game.
You might be retarded. Jones outwrestled DC, arguably the best heavyweight wrestler ever.

Is the fight at LHW or HW?

Jones wasn’t able to enforce his will against Reyes at LHW, most people thought he lost that fight. I don’t see what makes Reyes more special than AP.
Jones probably had a hooker in his lap until 6am fight day. We never saw a performance from him like that again.

The difference is Jones was casually willing to stand and trade with Reyes without constant urgency to grab ahold and grapple. I guarantee against Alex he would not put himself in dangerous situations for any amount of time.

Exactly. Jones' #1 asset is his intelligence.

Excellent. One more thread about a fight that isn’t even scheduled and we already know the winner.

Silva is my goat. Maybe Pereira can catch him, but I think it's crazy to think that's the destined result. Nothing beats a KO artist like Alex, just watching as a fan.

Khamzat is basically the worst style matchup possible. It's easy to ignore the times Ank or Jan shut down his offense, just focus on the KOs. Hard to think Khamzat isn't going to do way better than them.

I think that he would, yes. I'm a fan of Alex, he's good but I feel that he's not "that" good. Jones is a dick, yes, but I still feel that he's underrated on this board. I can't believe the amount of people on this board that believed the narrative that Jones was actually ducking Aspinal.

Jones is old and out of prime and shape. Reyes literally demolished him and made him leave division. Poatan nowdays KO Jones.

Like Jones is not finishing him in standup and grappling? I think that Poatan will rather offer face for punishment than neck/back, especially when he have experience from sparrings with Glover for submission and ref will eventually stand it up/round ends....

Jiri aswell destroys Jones nowdays...

I really dislike Jones but agree that this would be a really quite straight forward fight. The disparity in grappling is far far more relevant to the discrepancy in their striking and I can't envisage it going any way other than a rather quick finish once the fight got to the ground (once it did not if if did). IMO

I think he finishes him in the second. Jon isn’t a knockout guy, but he’ll definitely take Alex down and people don’t do so well after they feel him beating the shit out of them on the ground. Alex is experienced enough in combat sports to at least take a beating in the first, but he won’t be effective afterwards.

Nobody has gone to the ground with Jon and gotten up the same guy. Alex has only 4 or 5 years of grappling experience. It’s a mismatch and Jon knows it which is why he wants it so bad.

Jones seemed to overlook guys he saw as lesser and just coast on natural ability. Probably should have costed him against Reyes. He lost that fight. It's a bad outlook and approach.

But I don't think he would take Alex lightly.
What’s most likely the case is that Jones took less PEDs for those guys than he did for say Cormier … all three times he was scheduled to fight Cormier. Abnormal T levels first fight, caught prior to UFC 200. Caught right after the actual rematch with Cormier.

Which I guess can count as overlooking.

Pereira is probably my favorite fighter... Plus... Out of 16 fights he's only gone to the judges 3 times.

I think most would agree that Jon would wrestle and wouldn't want to stand for any decent amount of time.

Let's not pretend here. Jones would be wrestling from the first second the fight starts until he snatches a submission. I don’t think Alex understands the discrepancy in skill between his grappling and Jones'. Its far larger than the one between his and Jones' striking. Pereira is an early night for Jones, which is why he wanted Alex over Aspinall. There will be truly no chama if this fight takes place.
Exactly why is a stupid meaningless fight

A. Jones doesn’t fight
B. He isn’t the HW champ
C. He refuses to fight Tom for the belt
D. He is too fat to make 205

Why is this matchup even being discussed??

Fuck Jon

We saw him look worse against Gane and Stipe. Stipe just happened to be the absolute worst version of himself we've ever seen and there is a reason Gane has avoided submission specialists.
