Jones would rather fight 45 yr old fossil Stipe than cement his legacy against Tom

You give the game away when you try and pretend Jon Jones' legacy isn't already set

I am glad he’s doing well but a loss is a loss! View attachment 1025754

Aspinall barely has a top 5 win. A win over Aspinall means absolutely nothing to Jones legacy. He Destroyed Gane and wants a win over the longest reigning HW champ in UFC history to wrap things up. I'm okay with it.
Something that's probably at play and that nobody talks about is that the real reason Jon wants to fight Stipe is because Stipe is the only other man to beat DC.

Just another thing to rub in DC's face for the rest of time.

At least he actually moved up.

A lot of the other "greats" didn't have the stones (hell, some of them would rather fight smaller guys).

That said, the Tom fight is super intriguing.
Would love to see it.

So tired of people pissing and moaning about this. I didn't bother reading the OP, just want to reiterate that this old news and Jones can fight whoever he wants.

Tells you everything you need to know. Jon doesn’t have a warriors spirit. He’s happy to feather his nest and lie to his own fans. I mean sure he puts in a lot of time training in the gym which not everyone can do, but as far as his character and how he reacts to struggles inside and outside the cage, he’s not an example to follow. Genuinely don’t know how this guy has any fans. From the first time I heard him speak I knew he was a fake guy, you could hear how contrived his words were. This was when he was in his religious holier than thou phase lol, remember that.
Tom will do nothing for Jones. Just shut up and delete your account

His legacy is cemented. Stipe would be icing on the cake, and is a very winnable fight..

At this point, Stipe isn't relevant anymore. If fans don't want to see it, and aren't interested, what do you expect fans to say? Why are you taking Jon's perspective, of "I would rather fight the older weaker guy"? We can see the Aspinall is the greater challenge, based on how he fights, and you revert to records, which by this point, Stipe's accomplishments are in the past. Aspinall is current. Yes, I understand the argument that Jon wouldn't want to fight that, but if that's the biggest challenge, and champions are supposed to take on the biggest challenge, then that is what fans want to see, and yes, it is fair to say that taking on the biggest challenge would be warrior spirit, and not doing so would not. It is kind of strange to see people say things like, "Stipe would be icing on the cake, and and is a very winnable fight". What? So what? Who said his fight is supposed to be icing on the cake FOR him and he is supposed to take the most winnable fight? I mean, whatever. It might not even be his decision, and Jon can do what he wants. But it's fair for people to see it as is, and would rather see something else.

holy run-on sentence. TRIGGERED

Tom is essentially a no name fighter. Stipe is a lot more well known. Jones will make more money fighting Stipe, and it's likely less risk.

Not only that, but he's already cemented his legacy. Fighting Tom isn't going to suddenly cement it. Jones is undefeated and has beaten a whole host of killers. Absolute killers. And a lot of them he made it look easy. There's really nothing left he needs to prove. There hasn't been for a while now. JJ is definitely #1 in UFC history.

It's interesting. Jon beats a man that isn't the champion but is then considered and crowned the " undisputed" heavyweight champion of the world. Tom then beats a man who isn't the champion and he is crowned " the interim" heavyweight champion of the world. Make that make sense ? It's all smoke and mirrors.
It's just a fabricated storyline being fed to us all. Even jon believes it. Tom's belt is meaningless and inferior to his " undisputed". There is nothing undisputed about that title. Neither man is really any more of the real legitimate champion than the other.

Jon literally disregarded and dismissed cormier as the real lhw champion, called him a paper champion because he didn't beat him. Yet here he is , a paper champion who never took the title from the main man Francis ngannou. " shockingly" jon has had an attitude adjustment regarding the whole idea.
Now he's walking around acting like King dong while simultaneously openly declining Tom. Tom's resume isn't good enough, he isn't established enough to fight him but gane was. Strangely.

Guy ducked Francis until he finally had enough and left. Comes back fat as fuck which apparently took 3 years to do to fight the worthy gane.
One dimensional gane who's weakness jon just so happens to be phenomenal at. Wrestling and BJJ.
Tom on the other hand, is sadly an established BJJ black belt with good wrestling leaving jon little to exploit.
Too well rounded for a cherry pick

If he fought Tom and won the first thread of Sherdog would be "Tom was never that good anyway", the second would be "Tom hasn't beat anybody in reality" and the third would be "Ducked Ngannou".

So better beat Stipe who has a proven record and for more money.

He already is holding up the division.

He has definitively stated he has no desire whatsoever to fight the top contender in his division or to unify the belts with the interim champion.

How long he is out is completely irrelevant.

He won't even be fighting Stipe until the summer at the very earliest, maybe even later on in the year than that. It will have already been a year in March.

But again, that's irrelevant. He's holding up the division because we have a champion that is on record saying he won't fight the top contender/s in his division and he just wants to fight a semi retired old man and retire.
Rescheduling a fight for an injured fighter is a pretty normal thing that's happened throughout the history of the UFC.

Because at this stage of his career, Jon knows Tom is a bad match up for him. Washed up Stipe is easy money

They rescheduled a whole event for Jon when he refused to face Chael on short notice. Chael Sonnen, at LHW.
