Jones vs Stipe will look like Jones vs Vera

I studied Jones vs Vera and used the same elbow strikes to help amass my 4371-0 street fighting record
Bro I love your new AV of Jones saving that cat from the burning building, that was a beautiful thing Jones did. God gave him extra strength for that.

Not for very long.

He is old. But hes never looked smaller than a light heavyweight. He has always been way bigger than everybody Jon Jones fought at LHW.

Jon Jones has also never fought anybody like Stipe and especially not at heavyweight. He has fought far lesser grapplers than Stipe however and not been able to take or hold them down

Jones has taken down every single person he's fought, except Santos and O'Brien. He had one attempt against Santos, and no attempts vs Jake. He wasn't actively trying.

Look I want to see Jones lose, believe me, but Stipe is a sacrificial lamb being led to the slaughter here. He's old, looked terrible against Ngannou from the beginning, he's had a long layoff (preceded by another long layoff), he doesn't train full time, and he doesn't seem motivated at all.

Please do yourself a favor. Please get a grip on reality here. It'll make it easier when Jones demolishes Stipe.

There's a good reason Jones wants Stipe and not Pavlovich.

Can't explain it but I always hated Brandon Vera's face and was happy to see it broken

I think that you and anyone else seeing this fight as a sacrifice or a squash match are kidding yourselves.

But we agree in that we both hope it doesn’t play out that way.

We'll see how it plays out in the end. But I just don't see this being even close to competitive. I don't see Stipe looking good at all, unfortunately. A prime Stipe would be a great test for Jones, but a prime Stipe this is not.

I'm picturing Stipe doing this as Jones is laying slumped against the cage:

Or, Stipe playing Bongos on Jones, just as Thiago "Throat Slash" Silva did to Vera:

I'm not sure how much offensive wrestling is going to play a part in Jon's gameplan. He's not a spring chicken anymore and Stipe is not Gane. I'm expecting him to try to win the fight standing.

I miss Jones' razor blade ground and pound stoppages. Do we currently have any dominant fighters that are wrestling-based and finish with ground and pound? Would be nice to see a Cain Velasquez-esque fighter again.
Johnny Eblen and Aaron Pico are wrestlers who enjoyed nice GnP finishes this past weekend.

Jones is not coming for a boxing match
he is coming to take the old Stipe down, and ground and pound until TKO

LOL, one problem. Stipe actually can wrestle very well and stop the TD. He's a very good defensive and offensive wrestler. These fights are nothing alike.

To me, Jan, Pereira or Rakic look bigger: either bigger frame or more muscle mass.
Sure, I may be wrong.
Stipe weighted 234 pounds. I assume the cage weight for many LHWs is 220-230. But they sure have more muscle mass.

He's put on weight since the Francis fight. He now is around 245/250. He was fighting in the 235 range vs Cormier and Francis. He's be more on the weight as he was in first Cormier fight. 243 or so.

My only question is why would he be able to do that to Stipe when he couldn’t do it to lesser wrestlers, and nobody has ever done it to Stipe?
Logic.

Also...

That is about 13 years ago Jon Jones.
Odd to think 36 year old semi retired Jon could move like young fresh early 20s Bones.
