I keep hearing about round 2 but I thought Reyes won that round as well, but it might have been close. I thought Reyes won round 3 but it was closer and more plausible to give to Jones personally. 4 and 5 were obviously Jones.

I might have to go back and watch but again, I thought round 1-2 were CLEARLY Reyes. I thought round 3 was Reyes too, but could have gone to Jones and is the only possible way he gets the decision 3-2.

I don't really give a shit about the strike counter, but it backs my memory/judging up for the round 2/3 opinion here, and also Jones didn't wrestle until the 3rd.

I think Jones Reyes is MUCH worse than Machida Rua.

Machida Rua was very close and it really boiled down to judges valuing punches over low kicks.

ur not crazy. its just a case of, not sure what to call it... but whenever someone wins round 1, its very typical for someone to give the other fighter more leniency to win round 2 in order to make the 3 round more meaningful.. i know this was a 5 rounder, but its still something that holds on. sure, jones did better in round 2 than 1, but that doesnt mean he deserved the round. but i can see someone thinking, he did better, he gets the round. its quite stupid, but we see it all the time. announcers do it ALL THE TIME, in order to create more interest in round 3.

First 3 rounds were coin flips basically and landed with the defending champion. This was normal back then before judges realised drawn rounds were possible.

It was a legit way to score the fight.

Unlucky for shogun but reasonable.

That's printed like the first 2 rounds are.
I think the computer program saw the first 2 rounds n equated them as a draw (they might have printed it after that or something, I dunno). The last 3 rounds were done with pen.

Here's my view on that: (there's 2 or 3 threads on this...)

1. The 3 judges do have their own scorecards and hand-write them.
2. At the end of each round ONE PERSON enters the results of each round into the computer. It's a bit like a spreadsheet. That card is printed at the end of EACH round. That card in the photo is obviously the printed card at the end of Rd.2 (1st 2 rounds are PRINTED by a computer, after one person enters the results onto the spreadsheet)
3. The last 3 rounds were hand-written by ONE PERSON (you can easily see this by the style of the writing, and that each number is always slightly below the horizontal line etc, = one person writing in the numbers )
4. The reason it says "MAJORITY DRAW" will be because the computer tallies the scores that are CURRENTLY ENTERED and the spreadsheet (it probably IS an Excel spreadsheet and i'm very very familiar with it from decades of use) has a formula in the "Winner" which adds up the *current* cumulative scores, and as only two rounds were entered, the cumulative scores were 19-each, 19-each, 20-18 Reyes. This means a Majority draw SO FAR (just 2 rounds completed). It shouldn't be showing a result until ALL rounds are completed, but that's probably just a lazy spreadsheet programmer, it'd be easy to have the result show blank until all scores are entered.

Now what I think happened (being very cynical, and YES I think this is shady as fuck) is this :
- Whoever writes in the scores got TOLD to no longer print the cards, but to hand-write them and, as such, it is very easy for this person (whoever that is) to simply change the scores, and make one person the winner. I think that the UFC clearly wants Jones to continue as the Champ and so they wanted complete control over the final scorecard summary and so an instruction was passed to hand-write in the results from the end of Rd.2 as it was at that point looking like a probably Reyes victory. It MIGHT be that it's simply "the computer crashed" too and so they gave up printing cards.

Fuck Joe Solis. 49-46 was the most egregious scoring of the night, I can see the arguments for Jon winning, I personally don't agree, but to go as far as to say he won 4 ROUNDS!?!?!? Is FUCKING. BULLSHIT!!!

You're completely and utterly wrong about this. MMA is scored round by round, the judges don't think about it holistically like you are now.

The fact that Judge 1 and 3 BOTH gave Jones either round 2 or round 3 means it's not that much of a jump for Solis to give Jones both. Get over it.
