Jones needs to wrestle to win... ?

Jones doesn't need to wrestle to win but he needs to wrestle EFFECTIVELY to earn Ganes hespect and to keep Gane honest. If Jones can't get Ganes hespect and he can't keep him honest he's going to get the shit beaten out of him on the feech.

God yes. Wrestling or the threat of wrestling, along with massive amounts of steroids, is the only reason he was ever successful standing up. He's got pillow fists despite pretty much always being the larger fighter.

You got names for me, or do you actually expect me to watch some cringy anime clips? Tell me who Gane beat who is a better striker than Jon Jones and why, or be quiet

Gane and Rozenstriuck both have better striking resumes than anyone Jones ever fought

I think this is 100% true.
I think he absolutely needs to take Gane down, keep him there to either sub/tko him or just long enough to win rounds until an eventual decision.

Jones IMO cannot win this fight in a primarily kickboxing match. I also don't think he'll be able to have much success getting a hold of Gane to rough him up in the clinch or against the cage as Cyril is extremely elusive and crafty.

I still feel like Jon will be able to take Gane down and finish him but if Gane can defend some early takedowns we could see a super interesting scenario..

Thoughts???
What am I missing?
Do you agree?
Chime in Sherexperts

Well that's the obvious conclusion but it may not be that simple. Jones struggled to get people down at LHW towards the back end of his run there. Gane could very well piece him on the feet and stop him late.

isnt that the same as needing wrestling to win?

Listen i fuckin HATE Jones but that simply isnt true. His reach, his ability to throw elbows from far range, the constant mixing of high and low attacks and unpredictable chaining of attacks is ALSO a big part of why he is successful standing up. Look at how Gus was beating him up and he changed the whole thing around with the spinning elbow.

His pressure standing is something else, whipped Gus, a rangy striker NP. I predict he holds his own on the feet

I feel that he'll have to. It's his variety in striking is what makes him difficult against most guys. If the person he is fighting isn't befuddled, he needs the wrestling.

The problem if Jon gets close he will get hit hard and Gane knows that Jon wants to wrestle so he will be ready
All of Jones' opponents were supposedly "ready". Gane couldn't keep crippled musclehead Francis from getting ahold of him.

Jones didn’t lost striking exchanges vs Reyes Jones outstruck every opponent hes fought and who did Gane beat on feet better than Jones
I like Volkov's changes against Jones and Jones arguably ducker Francis. Gane didnt beat him, but won on the feet

I think he needs to MMA.

He looks too top heavy to just shoot from the distance and too much of a plodder to win a KB match on points.

The probability that Gane makes some wrong choice is bigger out of his element, like we saw vs. Ngannou.

While I agree with your sentiment, transferring that over to a HW fight with a guy as technical, accurate and explosive as Gane seems pretty farfetched. Especially considering Jon's age here.
