Jones is an easier fight than Aspinall

How many unranked fighters in UFC history have had title fights ?

I named one that happened in the past year. And we aren't ONLY talking about unranked guys, but also lower ranked guys.

The reality is the UFC itself doesn't care much about rankings or it would ALWAYS be the #1 (or maybe #2 if #1 injured or unavailable) getting the title shot. But it's not even close to that. They factor in whatever else they want. (Avoiding rematches, marketability, availability, etc etc).

You keep saying "Your feelings don't matter, those are the rankings" but the reality is that YOU are interjecting your feelings into the importance of rankings when the organization itself tells us card after card how little they matter when they book fighters ranked #3 or worse in title fights. Those are facts, and your feelings about the importance of rankings doesn't matter.

You named one fighter in a year that got a title shot?

Who was it again?

There are 578 fighters in the UFC

Of the last 10 HW champions in the UFC since Randy Couture 2007, they were all ranked #1 or #2 for title fights

Asakura was unranked and fought Pantoja for the belt. Why are you only talking about HW, and moreover you're only talking about who has the belt. The discussion is who's CHALLENGING for it.

If rankings were as important as you claim, title challengers should always be the #1 contender, right? Otherwise why have rankings at all?

If stipe was irrelevant

The UFC wouldnt have booked him against the GOAT at MSG .

The UFC tried to market it as being relevant and meaningful the same way you are, but everyone saw through it. In reality it was intended to be an easy gimmie defence for Jon to buy him more time with the belt.

Tom/Jon would have done far more buys, objectively. Jon would have gotten more money for it too. He choose to fight Stipe and retire instead. Wonder why?

At UFC 309 press conference the crowd was literally chanting Tom's name in response to any comment Jon would make.

I fucking love you idiots are trying to revise history. Jon vs Tom was set to be a gigantic fight, one of the biggest of the last decade.
Jon's a bitch

Unlikely, Tom is essentially a nobody
The only reason he has hype is because of the Jones prospective fight.

Jones the GOAT vs the Stipe the HW GOAT was an event at MSG

If the UFC thought Tom was star material like Stipe that warranted a fight against Jones, instead of Stipe, they would have made it happen
Jesus christ talk about delusional. Jones riders are as embarrassing as him.

He definitely didnt "win".

Apart from a few lunatics on here he's roundly considered a duck and a coward. And missed out on an enormous pay day somewhere in the region of $30mil.

Plus his antics have seen Dana say he cant trust him for the white house card that he's desperate for.

He lost in just about every way imaginable. He could not have played that any worse if it was his goal to fuck it up as badly as possible

you seem to misunderstand the entire picture and its kind of funny.

Why am in taking about HW?

In a thread about HWs?

This has nothing to do with Jones

Tom is a nobody compared to Stipe, Poatan or Jones?

Maybe that'lll change

Maybe hell lose to Gane and be dismissed faster than Gane was

If the UFC thought it would be more profitable for Jones to fight someone who had a single PPV fight in their entire career , fight at MSG

They would have booked it that instead of Stipe

You're running around this thread that Jon is only looking for "superfights" and how Tom doesn't qualify yet he was offered 30 MILLION to fight Tom. Just not a good enough "superfight" paycheck?
I believe Alex and Jon are looking for superfights

If Tom loses against Gane, no one will know his name.

Maybe he'll win, have a few more defenses, if he loses though...

lol nobody wanted the Stipe fight. You are delusional. Every press event was hijacked by people talking about and chanting for Tom.

You can't book a fight that one fighter is too scared to accept. You do understand this?
