It just sends him back to the stone-ages career wise and then he has to fight for the title again. He can either wait for HW-title fight between winner of Miocic/Werdum or just simple fight DC later

Money. And the way he lives his life he needs plenty of that.

What about the interim-title?

I don't think TS knows what "oxymoron" means... I'll show some restraint and refrain from making the next obvious statement about TS.

He could be the first ever UFC interim-interim-champ.
Kinda like the old Ultimate-Ultimates but much more dumb.

If he waited for dough boy to heal this place would blow up,now he's fighting just to fight and you wanna say some dumb shit lol

He said himself he still wants to beat AJ and Gus once again to clean out the division before he moves up to HW. He can check one of those off his list with this fight.

I am confident he will beat Rumble but there is zero gratification to just beating rumble no title-defense or title won. Just money fight and from fans pov he loses appeal

Oxymoron does't mean more of a moron. False truths would be an oxymoron because it's a phrase that contradicts itself. Also DC hasn't been on the shelf long enough for there to be a need for an interim belt. Jones isn't the champ so he should take a fight if one is on the table for him.

The man is worth $10M. I think he can safely afford his lifestyle.

Apart from money, legacy, wasting his prime years and a full camp only to not fight........... doesn't really make a difference if he faces Rumble now or later apart from now Rumble will be less prepared.

already setting up arguments in defense of Jones when he refuses the short term fight

He never said I would fight them without any title on the line. they can get in line when he has one

Don't assume jones will accept a short notice fight.

No he doesn't.

He's not champion. He doesn't get to pick and choose. Frankie Edgar knows a thing or two about that.

Fact remains, if he rids himself of Rumble now he won't have to face him for the belt in the future and can move to HW after he beats DC.

It's a pretty bad deal for Jones. He probably even gets paid less for this fight.

Jones can gain:

1. Money

2. A win against a opponent he has said that he wants to fight before going to HW

3. His own fight against ring-rust (he last fought January 3, 2015)

4. Respect from The UFC for doing what they want from all of their fighters: Stepping up and taking short notice fights when that is necessary

No way they don't re-schedule the fight, Gus and Rumble are not draws.

Dude. He is facing Rumble after DC anyway.
