Jones has NOTHING for Gane. How can he wiN??

Dem secondari
According to DC a man who fought at HW and LHW -- "Jones don't hit hard, he kicks hard." (1)

OK he kicks hard. But he's fighting against GANE.

A man who is 6'4. Jones will have to do head kicks to do ANY damage.

That's a long text for a troll thread.
- If you've actually watched DC talking about Jones he repeatedly says that his kicks to the body hurt him. Body kicks do damage too, but pssh. It's MMA's best kept secret.
- How's that insider info? Just like in any weightclass, mass is an advantage at HW. The biggest guys will absolutely cut a couple of pounds to make 265. Why wouldn't they. Jon was never a muscular fellow. He was lean due to the weight cut, but his physique was never intimidating muscular. He had plenty time to adapt to the weight now. DC was puffy too. People have different body types. As long as he's training enough, the shape that he carries is the optimal combat shape for his body.
- Look at the takedown GIFs in the thread. The one with the caught kick is like the least power consuming TD ever. Also 20 pounds is nothing for a good wrestler. There is layers to this shit player. Tiramisu.
There's a vid out there of Nemkov talking about Islam's top control, saying he was impressed by it. And at that point Nemkov was already Combat Sambo elite. Gane is a grappling noob. He started grappling at a point where Jones already was the best in the world and currently they are about the same size.

Jones will have little trouble taking Gane down. Gane will look like an Amateur on the ground and it won't be pretty.

Jones took down DC, so I am sure he can take down Gane.
He also has deadly elbows, knees, spinning backfists, eye pokes, grappling etc.

If its the same Jones that took out DC, Rampage etc I have no doubt in my mind he would win. Ring rust is real and aging too so i dont know if he will beat Gane
Gane hits hard and can definitely KO him if he lands
aww man adding eyepokes to his legitimate arsenal , nice!:-)

That's not the full quote you dishonest sherbro dweeb.

He says he kicks hard, he elbows hard, he knees hard he just doesn't punch hard.

Also other quotes where he talks about how strong he is in the clinch and how big he really is in person.

You're probably the type to clip 3 second videos out of context.

That's what makes this fight very intriguing. I have no idea who will win.

Jones has success against shorter fighters where enjoys a big reach adv and he can keep at range.

He's always struggled against lanky opponents otherwise.

He also hasn't really taken anyone down in a long time and looked pretty awful in his last two outings vs small LHWs.

He's looking pretty pudgy and slow atm too, and Gane will have a field day against him if it stays on the feet. Pretty much target practice wide UD in what is an uneventful fight that looks like a sparring match.

With that said Gane looked fairly susceptible against Francis' TDs so Jones being slower and bulkier shouldn't be detrimental to his grappling. I don't think Jones will have an easy time at all taking Gane down though but he has great fight IQ and is capable of rapidly adapting so who knows.

I hate Jones but hear me out, it goes from 5 eye pokes, to ankle pick to elbows GnP TKO.

Lol at comparing Jones movement to Derrick Lewis.

Been rewatching a lot of Jons fights, and to be honest I think people are sleeping on his striking. I think his leg kicks, the oblique kicks and side kicks to the thighs and knees, are going to stop Ciryl in his tracks and take the footwork away. If Ciryl closes the distance, Jon can clinch like he always does.
Gane has looked really really good on the feet, but he is fighting slow plodders like Derrick Lewis, or Tuivasa, Jon has looked good against much faster guys, I'm not so sure Gane is the better striker between the two.

The big variable is how the size affects Jon's movement and cardio. It's impossible to predict

Ngannu took down Gane, but according to Rogan, Francis was 270 for that fight while Gane was 247. (2)

According to Gane, Francis didn't have technical wrestling, but his strength was overwhelming.

THANK YOU! Francis didn't outwrestled Gane but OUTMUSCLED him. I have no doubts that Ngannou was one of the strongest if not the strongest guy at the time in UFC.
Add additional pounds and voila.

Now we have Jones who didn't utilize his wrestling right in last few fights against LHWs. We don't know if he is at his best. We don't know how ring rust will affect him.
We don't know how is his cardio at HW where he has more mass and this will be his first HW fight and additionally a 5 rounder. We don't know if he has whole drugstore behind him again.

I favor Gane. Maybe few Bones dickriders will open their eyes then. But If JJ wins, won't be pulsing and will somehow use his wrestling - I will eat my crow.

Wrestling. I would expand more but I feel like I always type out a book in these threads.

I think Gane wins though.

Jones moving up could also give him more power. Just like any 240-250lb athlete anyone can score a KO.

If betting money wasn't against my religion I would have put massive money on Jones by decision

Nobody knows. Jones hasnt fought forever so theres no way I'd bet on Jon. I am stoked that hes taking this particular fight and we're finally seeing Jones in cage again.

Take him down, slice him to bits with hellbows. Maybe even throw in a 12-6 to give Gane a chance of winning.

Jones is one of the most accomplished and dangerous mma fighters to ever live. The guy dominated so many great fighters. Now, is he unproven at HW? Yeah, he is. But based on his track record and the fact that he gained this weight slowly, he might just be up to the task.

False.

OSP, Gus 2, Smith, Bonnar.
