It's funny how that fight got announced and behind Dana Power slap logo lol.

For fight promoters they real are fuckin terrible at it sir.

Not much to promote. The current hw champ only has one fight in the division after years of talking about fighting, the opponent was badly KO’d in his last fight 3 years ago by the real champion who walked out of the promotion to join a rival organization that will let him have some type of fight with hw boxing champ.

Not much to get excited about as most feel both fighters are at the tailend of their careers while the best contender Pavolovich wasn’t included and the best heavyweight fighter is in PFL. They should have dropped this announcement on Wednesday morning at 3am because this fight second rate and not very important.

Weak.

The cynic in me thinks Jones, who's obsessed about his legacy and knows he's declining, just wants an easy fight to pad his resume. He avoided Ngannou for 3 years and now Pavlovich to fight a 41 year old Stipe.

I don't think this is going to sell very well. Jones hasn't ever really been a draw without the right opponent and no ones ever really cared about Stipe.

only a matter of time until jon get caught at hw. no doubt, he is the lw goat though, but everyone's time will come to decline. even washed up stipe can ko jon with a clean one...

LOL!!

Gane (#1 HW 10-1 interim champ) is suddenly a can
and

Jones is now ducking historic/unknown/retired guys with 0-2 titles defences.

<JonesLaugh>

Dude, Jones did not fight the best HWs at the time

When Cain was great, Jones ducked
When JDS was great, Jones ducked
When Ngannou was great, Jones ducked

Good that he is fighting a grandpa, like Conor did

Stipe will be 41yo--if the 35yo Jones can't beat him he loses his GOAT status to GSP and Anderson.

This is the Chimaev VS Diaz of 2023.

Except its actually gonna happen.

Can't wait for the 'But what if...' preview commentaries by the UFC chills pretending Stipe has a chance.

Agreed.

He's moving like Canelo. Padding resume with names rather than really testing himself.

Prime Stipe could've beaten Jone but Idk about this version. Stipe got knocked out by 40 year old obese DC and manhandled badly by Francis. He won't have the mental edge coming into this fight and will be fighting to lose by being overly cautious

Stipe is 41 years old and coming off a 2 year layoff after a brutal knockout loss, two knockout losses in his last 4 fights and nothing but absolute wars in his last 5 fights. Nobody really knows what kind of shape he will be in coming into this fight. At his very best though hes a bad match up for Jones.

Jones also has spent one minute in the octagon in the last 3+ years and choking out a French kickboxer with no ground game doesn't tell us much about where he is physically and how he would handle the game of someone as big and well rounded as Stipe.

That makes this fight ambiguous and it's hard to predict the outcome. If both guys come in great shape and well prepared it's going to be a competitive fight IMO. If Jones can't dominate Stipe in the grappling he's going to have his hands full in the stand up with Stipe who has better hands, a durable chin and the size to nullify Jon's reach.

If Stipe is cooked from all the wars and Jones comes in there in great shape then Stipe will be in trouble. Jones last fight didn't really tell us much so its silly to assume Jones will come into this fight in top form. At the very least Stipe won't lay down like Gane did. He will make Jon work for it.

I think it's pessimistic (or optimistic depending where you stands).

Stipe hasn't that much mileage for an end of career champion. He took a lot of time to recover between his recent fights.
And he has much better life hygiene than Jones, no drugs, no alcohol excess, seems to keep in shape most of the time. He looks in very good shape to me atm.

Jones on the other hand has probably aged as much as Stipe. He had more fights, he's had quite a lot of wars. He has years of alcohol and drugs abuse that will take a toll on his body and brain.

LMAO!!!

Sure
When Cain fought JDS 4 times, Jones was the LHW champ, DUMMY.

Infact they could have stepped up to the plate and fought the GOAT like DC.
Instead they got arrested or quit

FYI, Francis turned down the highest pay ever to fight Jones and chose to quit instead.

You are trying so hard, Jones is not the GOAT.
He is the #2 on the list, but not #1.

You are trying harder my old son. Suggesting he should have foughtt people in different weight classes or who have retired, been jailed or fled the UFC when it was time.
