I don't believe Daniel should be really high on GOAT list right now, for I believe Daniel is a heavyweight, who went down to LHW, got his ass kicked twice by Jon Jones, then moved up to challenge a heavyweight champion. The order of the accomplishments should not change on its appraisal of the value of those accomplishments. If Daniel Cormier beat Stipe for a heavyweight strap, then got his shit pushed in by Jon Jones in a clear fashion twice afterwards, would people be still trying to talk up the place for him on the mythical list of the greatest of all time?
I believe Jones is the most talented fighter of all time. I find it little hilarious but not surprised by double standards people place on a couple popular dick pill poppers, with a lot of people seem to try to talk up Anderson Silva, in spite of the fact him being the one who failed FIRST random drug testing of his career.
Also, Daniel Cormier is probably one of the best fighters to ever have competed in MMA as well, just can't really find it in me to place him up high on the list since he got destroyed twice by the same fighter.
Yet, the heavyweight division is the most coveted division, regardless of how non-heavyweights like Sonnen try to talk shit about it, because the best fighters, not in your fantasy or hypothetical settings, compete in it.
I always felt like Daniel Cormier would have a lot better chance at HW against Jon Jones, because I think Jon Jones had the size advantage at LHW, as I don't think Daniel found a way to retain his size while cutting weight to LHW, so it looked like he got dwarfed by Jon Jones, and he was the one who got muscled around in the clinch, but at HW, it won't happen like that, and Daniel would likely be the one who has the size advantage, and probably have a better punching power at heavyweight.
I never thought that DC would be able to avenge his loss because Jon Jones didn't look like he was moving up ever, and DC isn't young at all. However, as things stand, Jon Jones has everything gain to fight DC at heavyweight division, and nothing to lose.
If this fight happens, this fight would be between the most talented fighter ever to have competed in the UFC, the undefeated fighter, putting aside his dq against Hamill by elbowing his face into the ground, and against the fighter who is a dual champion, and who have never lost a fight in heavyweight division in his career.
For me, the first fight between two, was one of those rare superfights, that happens once in a long time, between the best that the MMA business is able to offer to the fans at that point in time. I didn't find the second fight that appealing at all, because there didn't seem to be any reason whatsoever there would be a different outcome than the first. However, at heavyweight, I feel like DC can avenge his loss, whether Jon Jones is coming in at 100 percent or hot.
