Jon Jones' UFC career officially over?

If Gane takes apart Frank--and I believe he will--Jones' UFC career will be officially over imo. Before you start saying 'I knew he wasn't coming back anyway', yeah, I know, I was probably saying that before you, but there was still that 0.5% chance that he might surprise everyone and make good on his word to fight Francis for the belt. At least with Ngannou, he has a narrow path to victory--run around the cage for a few rounds and hope Francis gasses enough to use some grappling without too much risk. But with Cyril, he has no chance of victory. None. Zero. Gane is proven at heavyweight and matches Jones strength for strength and does it all much better. Even if Jones tried some Hail Mary take downs, he would almost certainly get shrugged off and lit up. There's no way Jon wins that fight, he knows it and it will be the nail in the coffin for his HW "dreams". I predict that shortly after Gane's victory, if that is what happens, he will announce his retirement. After all, he never said he would fight Gane, just Ngannou, so with Francis out of the title picture, it would be a great time to slip out the back door with a least some of his pride still intact.

LoL wut? Gane is easy work. Big Frank puts the fear of god in Jones and he won’t step in the cage with Francis. If anything Jones is hoping Gane wins

Lol, that's not me. DC was a LHW. He gave up all his advantages to fight Jon at his own weight and went 0-1-1. Even Jones said he didn't want to fight DC at HW because it was a whole different ballgame
sorry, but you are being dishonest (or willfully ignorant) here.

1) DC did not "gave up all his advantages to fight Jon at his own weight".
DC moved down because Cain was the HW champ.

2) Jon said "he didn't want to fight DC at HW" because he wanted DC to fight him at LHW. That much was pretty obvious.
And why should he move up? He never fought at HW before, and there was no reason to start then.

So no, you are wrong on both accounts.

Jones was willing to fight Francis but they couldn't get Francis to agree to the money.

I think we'd know more if Jones had even fought a journeyman at HW. Maybe it turns out that anyone bigger and more powerful just steamrolls him because he has no power deterrent, or maybe he is so much more mobile and fight-savvy that he can easily control a decision. We don't really know. The thing is, that I believe Gane beats him at his own game wherever the fight goes, while it's possible that Jon could matador Ngannou, gas him out and win the later rounds.

Jones said he wouldn't fight DC at HW because that'll be giving DC an advantage so I disagree with Jones eyeballing folk based on what DC did at HW. Jones isn't Godzilla which is proven especially without his special sauce so don't know why folk have more confidence in him then the man does himself.
Cool that has literally nothing to do with what i said.
Jones was saying he wants to goto HW when stipe was champ but then got quiet when Francis beat him but okay your opinion makes way more sense than jones literal action.

You could be right of course.
But I think he fights again. He might be taking a break, suspended, or just waiting for his best opportunity.
You are right, Gane is likely to win, but I don't see him being a champ for a real long period, someone will take the title back. Jon can pick who he wants to make a run at, or even go back to light heavyweight. Or make a run at Gane, it is a bad matchup for him, but that doesn't mean he won't take it.

I believe he said he wouldn't want to fight DC at HW after the two fights. It was a hypothetical posed by an interviewer as I remember it. As it happened, intentionally or not, DC gave up his advantages going down to LHW and he was good enough to beat everyone except Jones. DC is built for HW, Jon is built for LHW, so I would pick either to win at their optimum weight

We'll never find out as Noone is paying him 30 mil.

This is all true, except that if Gane wins, I see him defending at least as long as Stipe--3 or 4 fights, and that will put Jon in his 40's with half a decade out of the game

He's 35 in july, and dana is saying they have no plans for him in 2022. Now obviously that could be a lie/subject to change. But the door is closing quick. Especially considering he's been doing this since his early 20's. He's got a fair amount of miles. If what dana said about 2022 is true, could be almost 36 by the time he gets in there again if he ever does. And that would also be a 3+ year lay off leading into said return if it did take that long.

Been over for some time now, all this heavyweight talk is just for optics.

I think Jon sees Francis as a bigger threat than Gane. Once Francis slept Stipe, Jon started talking about he needed 20m or whatever.

Naw, there's a clear path to beat Francis which plays right into Jones strengths and preferable way to fight.

Gane is a nightmare matchup for Jones. TS is right.

based on what? your delusional feelings about Jon?

lol, shut up dude.

Not a Jomes fan, but it is possible that he’s just being analytical and systematic about his move up, making sure he puts the weight on correctly, while having the cardio to fight a full 5 rounder. Last I heard he was actually working with Stan Efferding on his weight gain, granted he is a powerlifting/bodybuilding guy, but he is thee subject matter expert. Another valid point that I wanted to hit, the science behind successful microdosing is a slow and methodical process, let’s give Jon the benefit of the doubt....

come on now, DC was not "built for HW".
If anything he looked far healthier and in-shape at LHW.
Matter of fact, Fat DC looked terrible against Miocic on their last 2 fights.

And again, you have no clue what to expect from Jon at HW.
He can completely change his style, or remain much as Gane, fighting from outside. his style is different than anyone Gane or Francis fought.
To claim Jon, a fighter who has one loss (and due to DQ no less) has no chance against some neophyte like Gane is not only a disrespect, but flat out blind hate.
