UFC often brings that metric up while hyping champs.

Another misleading metric is the number of rounds won. They do not count the total number of rounds in a fight in a case of an early finish, like it is more impressive to win decisions.

He gets to retire as champ while setting another record and avoiding a big threat in Tom.

This will be great for Jon. For years he'll be sitting on Twitter talking shit, maybe hinting at a comeback. Always lauding his accomplishments over everyone at LHW and HW.

And all this will help keep his star power going so he can charge more for event appearances and seminars and the like.
