Jon Jones quacking situation.

While I don't think Aspinall has looked that impressive and I think Jones beats him, if you get to the point where you're defending the "interim" belt you should probably just be considered the real champ.

Jon jones missed a great opportunity to shit all over Tom. If I was Jon, after the stipe fight, I would have called him into the cage and hold the belt up and say “ is this what you want so bad?” Then throw it right at his feet saying “Here you go. Quack at that bitch!” And walk off. Leave him to forever be a paper champion in people’s eyes

Except very few people would think that-most would just view Jones as admitting he's scared of Aspinall. Because Aspinall was saying he'd retire Jones BEFORE the Jones/Stipe fight. Tom said "I'll retire Jon either way. He either fights me and I beat him and he retires, or he's scared and vacates and retires." So Jon would just be taking option #2 of what Aspinall already had said were the 2 options.

Yea but you also have to be someone in Jon’s eyes. Deep down you know that if Jon beat Aspinall, it would not change his career in anyway. He’d just be another head on the wall. To Tom, this means everything for him not only legacy, but financially as well

It would absolutely be an important scalp on Jones wall and he knows it. It would legitimize his HW career because he'd actually be the underdog vs Aspinall. People truly believe Aspinall and not Jones is the best HW. (Obviously not everyone believes that)

Jones losing to Aspinall doesn't change his legacy as the GOAT LHW. Him beating Aspinall cements his HW stint though. At this point it seems very possible that it's just not a fight that Jones is confident he can win.

For Aspinall, obviously Jones would be a massive and key moment. But Aspinall doesn't NEED Jones to build a legacy, he can go on a run and do that without Jones. Of course he'd rather add Jones to his wall of scalps, but what he needs most is for things to move forward. With or without Jones.

No, beating Aspinall would be huge for Jones, his HW career would go from joke to legit and the UFC would probably reward him with Poatan or some other easy fight and his run could continue, adding to his legacy. Also, the more fights he can win at HW while testing clean will start to mitigate his problems at LHW. He could actually rehabilitate himself at HW if he takes the fights
