Jon Jones is punching the air right now

Nothing preventing Alex from moving up and getting a free TS against Jones, this loss doesn't prevent this scenario from unfolding
I think it does. He is now in a similar situation to when he lost the Izzy rematch. If he goes up he will probably get a number one contenders fight first.

Strickland actually has a great style for Ank. But he's too small.
Sean fought Imavov at LHW. It was short notice, but he did it and won
I don't think it's out of the question for Sean to go to LHW. But I dunno if he will while Alex is still there

Its a sad day for mma, our only biolent active champ has lost and with all that money at his age, he’ll prob retire soon. At least Jones lost his only way out to avoid Tom and Dana must be pissed we got the modt boring inactive champ of all time now…

How so - it was a very close fight won by a superior game plan. with a few adjustments Alex could easily win the rematch and set up the Jon fight.

Win the rematch, vacate, move up to HW and get the Jon fight for a big PayDay $$$$$ then retire.
The media leading up to a potential Jon/Alex ppv would take up atleast a year. Contract disputes before that may be another year. They'll both be near 45 years old at that point.

You can’t be serious?

Alex just lost his belt. To a guy much less talented than Ankalaev. The UFC can’t/won’t do that. It would totally destroy every bit of legitimacy that they still have.

Jones fights Tom, or vacates.

Well, looks like Jon's 4D chess plan of dodging Tom by fighting Alex because it's the "bigger better" fight is in shambles.

Jon is now backed into a corner to either fight Tom (which he clearly doesn't want to do) or duck Tom by retiring (also doesn't want to do).

I pray for anyone around Jon right now, cause he's seeing red.
yes if you where in jons shoes you would too
imagine fighting a division world champion with an even life changing payday
lol

People who still want Jon to fight Alex over Tom are weird as fuck.

It’s just jones fans trying to cope with their favourite fighter ducking the interim champ. We all know what fight has to happen next, toms held the interim belt for a year now! It’s a ridiculous situation where the UFC HW Champ is clearly shook and scared of losing. Make the fight or vacate the belt, this is beyond embarrassing for jones now.

It does take the shine (read: money) off Alex for now though.

He'll be back before long, with so many defences he was bound to lose it eventually, I think if he can move up to HW and start winning the hype train will be back on the tracks. But I don't think Jon can keep ducking Tom for the like 1-2 years that project would require

Bro youre such a mentalist! Nice gymnastic , i hope i didnt intervene your hard prayer.
What an tool .

Does Alex ability to stuff Ank 12 times though lend itself to a narrative he could keep Jones off him long enough to possibly get off his offense?
Nah... Ankalaev is not the monster wrestler people make it to be but he is a southpaw who easily outpointed Alex.

They're just blatant degenerate Jon Jones fans. I don't even understand how you can be a fan of the guy. He's a horrible human being.

The same people that ragged on Greg Hardy for being a woman beater will still support Jon Jones, despite the fact that he beat his wife in front of his kids, and HIS OWN KIDS called the cops on him.

The last exit in Jons escape plan vanished tonight. Between fighting Tom or retiring, Jon will choose option C: getting himself arrested and thrown in jail the week of the fight.
My prediction is that Jon Jones accepts the fight and then pulls out at the last minute with an "injury". He will do that on purpose to get back at the UFC for not helping him duck Aspinall. Then the UFC will have to strip him of the title and find a replacement opponent for Aspinall, to fight for the vacant HW title.

That way Jones can claim he didn't duck Aspinall, he just got injured.

A LHW getting a HW title shot off a loss over the HW Interim Champ? I wouldn't put it past em
