Jon Jones declines Stipe fight

Good, Jones can sit on the sidelines for another year and tweet about how great he is, or I should say once was. There is a reason Jones ducked Stipe when he was still the champ, and now he is ducking Francis, which is understandable considering Jones last few lhw fights were pretty lackluster. But what a disappointing end to his career from someone who could of been goat.

When does being inactive in a weight you've never even fought in lead to a championship fight?

being th ufc goat plus he’s always been a hw in frame his reach at least according ufc longer then fuckin Ngannou same height too he should never been lhw I don’t kno how he make I think cause skinnny legs

And it's shit said like this that is why fighters are starting to stand up to Dana. Are you that much up McGregor's ass to believe that Ngannou v Jones wouldn't draw? They'd easily get 700k if Dana didn't do his best to smear both fighters and actually promote
John will never fight Ngannou and I hate Conor. Nice fantasies you create to cope there bud.

Jones has actually followed in the footsteps of GSP exactly.

Stayed in the game as long as he could but left when he sensed his time was done and a loss was just around the corner.

Constantly teases coming back and fighting for his own ego.

I guess if Tai Tuivasa lands a miracle KO and wins a belt Jones will come out of retirement like GSP did to 'challenge himself' and to build 'his legacy'

I don't blame him. Randy, BJ, GSP, Conor, pretty much everyone who was champ never had to fight a guy before fighting for the belt in the class above

Why should the guy who has been champ longer than anyone have to fight a contender fight?

How about max, tj, and others who failed to become champ champ

What about Anderson Silva...

If Jones is that confident in his abilities, I'm not sure why he's not just fighting and beating the slow, unskilled fighters that make up a lot of the HW division.

That way, he'd knock off the fights on his contract allowing him to renegotiate AND he'd have a record at HW that would allow him to claim the higher salary he wants for any potential title fight.

Either there is something we don't know about, ie a undisclosed injury or suspension or he really isn't that confident in his abilities and doesn't want to risk losing to some overweight middleweight before getting his title shot.

Because hes being intelligent and pragmatic about his career at this point. Gain weight get the right compensation as the best ever.

Seems like a no brainers.

Dudes seem to think prize fighting is like playing their xbox or something.

Jones is retired, even if the UFC said OK, we will pay you what you want to face the winner of Francis-Gane, by then Jones will have sat out 24 months, 2 full yrs. Even without ring rust it'd be tough, with a 2 yr layoff Jones is in big, big trouble. People say he's being smart about taking time to gain weight properly, but not fighting for 2 yrs & walking right into a fight vs Gane/Francis isn't smart either

Jon already had the size to move HW years ago tho.

I’m not even surprised. Jones needs to fight someone already keep wasting time will all these delays will only hurt his career.

Size in combat sports in a measurement of mass done in weight, not height.

So someone who is tall and weighs 217lbs is actually smaller than someone who is short and weighs 240lbs
