Jon Jones declines Stipe fight

They lost, they couldnt beat the champ.
If public opinion mattered, we wouldn't have judges

lol, that's how the system is built. three people decide a fight. usually, they're generally right. public opinion, on the other hand, heavily outweighs three humans, in my opinion.

well, you just stated fedor. don't forget gsp, even though i don't like him as a fighter. jones arguably has lost three times, to gus, santos, and undoubtedly reyes.
He beat Gus.
How did Santos win? He threw twice as many strikes as Jones, But landed half as many as Jones. How is that winning? It looked cool, but you cant give him a win for swinging and missing.
Reyes was the closest fight, but I still had Jones winning. I wouldn't have been shocked though if they said Reyes took it.

They lost, its ancient history. If biased mob opinion mattered, the sport would have judges.
Santos was hospitalized and unable to fight for a year after receiving a clinic

The Santos fight wasn't close in realty, only on paper. Santos could barely walk for more than half the fight, yet Jones didn't even try to take him down. To me it was obvious that Jones was just a comfortable cat playing with his food.

If Jones had felt any real threat form the hobbled Santos he would have tripped him, taken him down and blasted him with elbows.

the injuries afterwards have no bearing on the fight-itself. you judge the fight in the moment. not with adding more information, after the fight has already been done.

he won't fight a hard opponent for the belt or any hard guy at HW.

oh god. do your own google research on peoples' opinion on those fights. i'm not going to do the work for you.

he'll probably make more waiting it out than fighting someone with no draw, probably the right choice to make

Yeah the scoring and extent of the career ending injuries tell the real tale not the, "I cant stand Jones, I want him to lose so bad", emotions

And you are who??
Some random dumbshit that has never had a pro fight.
Difference is moron, I am not demanding for a professional fighter who has earned the right to do whatever he wants.to “just fight anyone”.

I don't blame him. Randy, BJ, GSP, Conor, pretty much everyone who was champ never had to fight a guy before fighting for the belt in the class above

Why should the guy who has been champ longer than anyone have to fight a contender fight?

Fair point. Dana moved an entire card for Jones 6 days out.

Jones is either riding out another USADA suspension, is a chickenshit, or retired. I don't expect him to fight again in the the UFC for one of those 3 reasons.

I suspect if he ever planned at fighting at HW at all then it was probably looking to get a title shot against Stipe after a somewhat lackluster performance even in victory over Cormier in the 3rd ttile fight, Jones announced he was moving up days after that.

Difference is now of course he has far less to gain fighting Stipe and with both Ngannou and Gane around I would say the chances of him getting an easy path to the title are now pretty much over, again I suspect he will never fight again now and will instead spend the next few years constantly talking up potential fights that never happen before retiring.

Maybe the odd chance Dana might offer him good money to fight a lower down HW for decent money and hype it as "Jones HW debut" but really it looks like LHW is closing up behind him as well now with Jiri and Rakic rising.
It's possible, but of course Stipe was a champ since 2016. Meaning of Jon had a slight interest he could have done it in the previous 5 years. Of course, Jon was still the LHW champ and it's obvious that going up a division means bulking (muscles, not fat). I don't know at what weight Jon walks around (possible 230-235) so he is almost Stipe's weight when out of competition. Jon showed some interest o twitter but that was it. Was he waiting for the decline of Stipe to challenge him: possibly. Or maybe he thought he had a better chance against someone else at HW. I think we'll never know ...

As much as I hate Jones and probably always will, I always felt out of the loop with this whole thing that he looked bad or even lost his last few fights. Trust me, I wanted that too happen, but I didn't see it. I need to watch them again I guess. I'm not even saying they're wrong.

Stipe the 3rd time against Cormier though a lot of people did comment that neither guy looked as good as in the 2nd fight so maybe Jones saw that as a chance to get the belt off of a big name on the decline?

He doesn't want to fight. That's all there is. He can't juice anymore so now he's a Twitter warrior. That's all he'll ever be. He will never agree to fight Ngannou or Gane because he can't beat either of them.
