I kinda feel sorry for him. I know Americans are all about individual responsibility and agency (you make your own way in this world, WOOHOO!) but his predicament really smacks of a lack of family and team support. To keep on allowing him to fuck up, and to not be able to control his image. He should be on watch 24/7. inducted into every rehab programme going, seeing every top psychotherapist in the world. There is I think definitely a culture where athletes in MMA could get away with a hell of a lot more than most sports that probably played a big part in Jones going so far down this path, he's never really had to face the music dispite repeated fuckups and dodgy behavour. I mean I think you can even see it in terms of the reffing in fights with his repeated eyepokes going unpunished, you obviously can't foul in that direct way in boxing but you would not get away with say giving repeated low blows(as for example Kongo did vs Mirko).

A lot of people didn’t want to hear what rashad was saying about Jones because they felt Rashad was being a salty hater over what had happened around his training camp. You probably felt the same way too, you knew something was up with Jones, the warning signs were there, but nobody wanted to believe it because at the time, Jones was the next big thing in mma and had so much hype behind him.

Didn't want to hear it? Nobody wanted to believe it? Did you read my post...? Many people were calling Jones fake months before Rashad did, including me. So how did people not want to believe it, if whenever Jones was brought up many people would talk about how fake he was? How could I not want to hear it, if I was one of those people?

Rashad probably only called him fake because it was already a common internet thing by then. People absolutely did not get that idea from Rashad. It predated Rashad ever saying it.

Yes Jones was the next big thing, but he was pretty unpopular. He became significantly more popular after people said he was embracing "heel Jones".

I don't recall exactly when it started, but I think it was popular at least by the time of the Vera fight. Probably before then. Rashad and Jomes were still friends then.
