jon jones recently has been using the past tense to describe his addictions, as in he was addicted or used to be addicted...

Does this raise a red flag to snyone? Has jones actually sought out treatment? It's my understanding that you ARE an addict always, you just are of are not using

Are there any alcholoics in the program or any addicts in sherdog? Is jons past tense descriptions maybe a sign that he is not undergoing any treatment, or do some addicts legitimately use the past tense to describe their addiction?

You don't just shake off addiction. Let alone something as addictive as Cannabis.
It will stalk him like his shadow, for the rest of his life.

although marijuana is not generally considered physically addicting one can be addicted to marijuana. just like one can be addicted to sex, spending, masturbation, gambling etc. and stronger forms of MJ as well as concentrates will have mild physical withdrawal symptoms as well.

Maybe he just quit cold turkey, you act as if you have to seek treatment or your still an addict. We'll find out soon enough when the drug tests come back.

Not a lot of addicts use technical terminology. He hasn't even been to treatment to my knowledge.

Oh yes, I was terrible Marijuana addict for 7 years.

I lost my home, my sanity and almost resorted to sucking dick for Marijuana.

But then I realized, I was never addicted to Marijuana, because it's no worse of an "addiction" than being "addicted" to pepperoni pizza.

Can't believe it took being on my knees staring at a dick to realize that.

I guess I'm asking, whether or not you seek treatment, even if you are sober 20 years, aren't you still addicted? Know what I mean?

I mean there's one of two ways to read what he's doing. Either he's willing himself to be past-tense in all facets of his former lifestyle.... or he's still in denial about how to better himself.

We can't know. As much as I dislike the guy, I hope he gets past whatever drags him down.

There is no true addiction without a chemical tolerance. I'm an alcoholic. I have ups and downs. There were times in my life when I smoked weed daily for months and it was never the same. When you need a drink, your whole body screams for it. Hell, I've binged on a ton of drugs, but only the one I have a chemical dependence on calls me back again and again.

Bones has no fucking business throwing around weed as an addiction. He will never spend a day sweating, nauseous, aching all over. Taking meds to stop himself from having a fucking seizure because he has a chemical dependence on weed. Shut the fuck up.

The big red flag is that he said he was addicted to pot, I seriously wonder if he said that as a joke to see if people would play along with it. Dude is drinking and snorting coke on the regular, then blames weed lol

No your addicted one day and you're not addicted another.

True addiction is admitting that you have to always be addicted. There is also physical and mental addiction.

I've been to NA and AA meetings...the whole program is bullshit and the only reason why it seems to work is because they give these losers the forum to be attention whores...

For fucks sake this, I'm getting tired of people saying weed is addictive just because anything can be addictive. It's not addictive in the sense that it's an addictive drug which is what everyone means when they say it. It's not even something that is open to debate, it is just a fact

Liquor and tobacco.

Quit whiskey once, 6 years ago. Quit dipping about 28 times this year alone. It's easy to quit.

I smoked a pack and a half a day for 10 years and just decided one day that I was done, and never had another smoke. It takes some mental discipline and stubbornness, but it isn't' impossible. There are times when I want to smoke, but those are generally limited to social situations when in the company of smokers. I also drink everyday, but I have no intention of giving it up. Not to say it's similar, but you know, just sharing because, well, I'm currently bored and drinking. I don't think Jones is clean, though, and I don't really care.

It's about how you identify yourself.

Jones has had issues with drugs. Serious issues that have almost cost him his career and freedom...

He realizes he has a problem.

I identify as a recovered addict (alcohol and stimulants) as I'm not using at present. But I know relapse is ALWAYS a possibility. It is hard wired into my brain, as it is for any addict.

Ding, ding, ding. Clean or not, Jones is not going to be talking like someone that's been in and out treatment centers, because he's never really been in one. From his own admission so far he's dealing with it on his own for the most part, So you cant take anything from how he says things.

(Oddly enough, this is the second time I've appropriately posted this clip as a response on Sherdog this week. Both times involved Bones, lol.)

And yes a lot of the posters on here have an addiction....

.....to the c*ck! amIrite?

Its not addictive. Jon was never addicted to weed.

Theres a difference between needing something and wanting something real bad.

Tbh when i hear people tell me that they're addicted to weed,it makes me cringe. You're not addicted moron, you just have really weak will power and want to get stoned.... thats it.
