I also have to say this.

People are raving about Joaquin's performance(and they fucking should), how it's oscar worthy(it is) but I also have to praise the cinematography. The cinematography should get a nod as well.

Beautiful looking film.

The sound track was the shit too

Leto’s Joker doesn’t have to fap to an imaginary girl and actually gets pussy from Margot Robbie.

Leto’s Joker > Joaquin’s virgin Joker

Fantastic movie! Here are some thoughts, obviously SPOILER WARNING!!!

Phoenix was AMAZING as Arthur/Joker, I really felt for him most of the film. A lot of it was hard to watch but sooo well acted. By the end I could completely buy him as the Joker we all know. De Nero was great in the little time he had. I didn’t like how they made Thomas Wayne such an ass though, I felt absolutely nothing when he died and neither did Bruce apparently lol. Speaking of Bruce, I liked how he wasn’t afraid of Arthur at all. But he could’ve showed a little emotion when his parents died. As others have mentioned the soundtrack was amazing as was the cinematography. But this is Phoenix’s film, he should definitely get nominated at the very least.

Side Note: It did leave me thinking of mental health in our society and how many people like Arthur slip through the cracks.

SPOILER** Thinking that Bruce and Joker were brothers for 30 minutes was a surprising moment.

My big question is will this Joker be tied into the new Batman with Robert Pattision? I'm leaning now unless the movie takes place in 1990's to 2005. Sounds like a one and done with another new Joker looming for the Pattison movies.

Todd Phillips (director) said it wouldn't, especially as Warner Bros wants an entire DC Universe beginning with the new Batman franchise, and that wouldn't correlate with a realistic character study like this film

Tickets for Tuesday matinee with my wife. Very excited. Lol @ woke retards review bombing it on rotten tomatoes.

They should make a Batman universe, not a DC universe. The other DC heroes don't work on film.

I liked it and that celebratory dance scene and the symbolism it represented. But I understand if others were not happy with the song selection since it's overplayed during sport events.

It was an odd choice,

It went with the scene but yet it didn't..

It's like the whole movie they tried to give it that late 60's, seventies vibe with the decor, music and tv show Carson look.

But then out of nowhere,

A 90's Jock Jams song...

I was like, okay I guess I'm hyped up now but wtf just happened?

I'm gonna see it eventually but when people stop talking about the controversy surrounding the movie.

I wanted to just watch this as a movie. I didn't wanna go in thinking in my head about some stupid culture war again.

So I'll wait a week or so when people online cool off.

I'm not in a Western country now so people aren't talking about anything surrounding the movie, they just see it as a Batman movie lol.

I kind of envy them. There is now woke culture here so they are blissfully ignorant about the online culture war for this movie.

All this negative press that sprung up recently feels a bit suspect to me. The critics at the Venice Film Festival had no problem with the movie. Then one month later it gets a bunch of negative press and negative reviews, seriously wtf?

Milennials I talked to were shocked at how it didn't feel like a superhero film. Many found it boring. It just goes to show the attention span of film buffs who love 1970s films vs today's movies.

I hope the success of this movie gets other filmmakers to start making more films like this without worrying about a media backlash.

Almost certainly not, as both Philps and Phoenix have said Joker is one and done. A totally self-contained, stand alone movie with no connection to the DC Movie Universe going forward. Philips wanted Joker to be the first in a DC Black Universe; relatively modest budget, character driven, adult films about DC villains and anti-heroes. But DC said they wouldn't commit to anything of that scope until they saw how Joker performed.

Pheonix is too much of a perfectionist

He did Joker and its done now

Which is pretty depressing because I'd be down for more of him

But its kinda cool that no actor has ever been Joker in more than 1 film

That makes all the performances more special

They can tie it together by saying that Phoenix Joker inspires a copy cat one that eventually killed Phoenix's Joker to own the mantle for himself.

It would take a very brave actor to follow Phoenix's performance.
