The score was bad and felt out of place in a lot of scenes

I touched on that during my first thoughts

They were using songs that I've heard in Mighty Ducks

That was like the biggest ball they dropped

This song is actually in the movie during a serious scene

It completely killed the scene

Yeah I have no idea what they were thinking on that choice of licensed track.
I liked it and that celebratory dance scene and the symbolism it represented. But I understand if others were not happy with the song selection since it's overplayed during sport events.

Pretty dam good. Probably gonna go see it again

Fuck that. I liked the Dark take on Superman. I'm so sick of these kiddie Disney superhero movies.

Fuck em

Sucked balls and completly killed any contrast for Batman vs Superman.

Its ok if you dont like DC characters , whats wrong is the narrative that DC comics are darker. Marvel and DC are about the same, Hulk is darker than any justice leaguer not named Batman, Marvel has Punisher, Daredevil and Moon Knight that fit that role (and others like Wolverine , Ghost Rider).

The first people deserved it.

I dont think they would have received the death penalty for their crimes, mind you my response is dependant of the comment I was quoting. (Maybe he first 2 under self defense, but the guy that ran away ...maybe on some states)

Masterpiece. 10/10.

I didn't think it was anything spectacular but I am always amazed at people who take meaning from user ratings. Metacritic, rotten tomatoes. Imdb, etc. At least half of the time I completely disagree with the ratings. They are useless and annoy me more often than inform me.
What are you talking about? That's not the Metacritic user rating; that's the critic rating.

I'm not saying this is a horrible movie, I was right along for the ride for the most part. I just think it was mediocre at best and I'm genuinely curious as to what made this movie resonate with certain people so much.

I feel like I watched a decent movie and I have people telling me it's the modern day Citizen Kane, and I'm like "Wtf am I missing here"? Incidentally, it's now ranked #9 on IMDB, well above Citizen Kane and one spot above Good Bad and the Ugly! loool I just don't get it, and I don't think it's because I wasn't born 3 years earlier

IMDB has it ranked #9 overall in the top 250. With close to 80K votes.

Fuck IMDb scores.

For fucks sake people, the early rankings and shit on imdb, rotten tomatoes eventually even themselves out and become more realistic.

Watched it today. Thought it was great. Phoenix was brilliant, the cinematography was beautiful and the use of sound and music to set the tone both caused feelings of uneasiness and humor at time.

Only movie I've seen at the cinema this year. Was not disappointed.

It took a massive shit on all the fucking stupid super hero movies and laughed along the way.

But I guess cause it doesn't have a connected universe or Saturday morning cartoons it must not be as good as captain cape man: green screen extravaganza 4
I loved captain cape man: green screen extravaganza 4 and I think Joker is a fucking masterpiece.

I didnt really like Joker's expressionistic dances and that even as Joker his voice sounded too effeminate and insecure,

Phoenix performance maybe better than Ledger, but I actually like Ledgers Jokers the best, Phoenix's always felts like a Joker in the making.
Well... he was just a Joker in the making.

Or was he?

a Film Theory and Pitch Meetings crossover :D

It was odd and that made it fit perfectly.

Will wait for Netflix, if there is nothing, nothing else available.

The reviews I’ve read, have made me want to see it less and less with each review.

While possibly a “great performance “ the very being of it from reviews goes completely against “The Joker” as we’ve know to “Love”.

And 1981 timeline, really fucks with not only Jokers origin Story, but Batman’s as well.

Dark Knight will seem off after this because the Joker is at least 25 years older than Batman.

I figured the dance he was doing is a specific type of dance

I've been meaning to look into it
I dunno I really liked how every time he did the dance, it was more expressive etc, like he grew into the dance, and was more free in parallel to how he accepted becoming the joker. In the beginning it wwas quick, and he wasnt as sure, but every time he did something heinous it was more artisitc and expressive.

Without getting into the messages people might or might not walk away with after having seen it, I thought it was really good and of coarse Joaquin’s performance was masterful. I really liked the style and cinematography. I’m glad DC is willing to take comic book movies in other directions like this, and like Logan did.

My favorite song is from the scene after getting fired:

"My Name Is Carnival" - Jackson C. Frank

Joker tells the psychiatrist "I was listening to a song the other day about a guy called Carnival. My clown name was Carnival back when I was working as a clown. At first I didn't believe I existed, but I do and people are beginning to notice." The psychiatrist ignores him while he's telling her this.
