I'll try.
I wanted to compare this film with the dark knight.
But after thinking about it. I think both joker performances are very different. So while i get why they are compared, i think it's a bit unfair to compare them as well.
Joker focused on his origin, upbringing, and ultimately his decent into madness. By the end of the film, he had just turned into the joker. And dare i say that he still has more growing to do as the joker character for us to fully see the madman he will become.
With the dark knight, we see an established joker in his full fledged joker persona. He was a very intimidating villain. I guess i would compare it to reaching max character level in a game.
If both jokers were to go against each other, no doubt in my mind that ledger wins 9/10 times. Simply because he has the experience and cunning that phoenix's joker doesn't yet have.
Anyway, that's just what i think. I thought Joker (2019) was incredible. DC really needed a win here. Joaquin Phoenix is such a great actor. I really hope he wins the oscar for this. Who is he going up against?
i'm rating the film 9.5/10
I think he's one and done. This seemed like a passion project and Joaquin isn't at the Johnny Depp stage of his career, yet.I know Joaquin doesnt really obsess over money ........ anyonyone think he could refuse the truck load they are about to throw at him to do a sequel.
My ideal would be a trilogy
2nd film dealing with him meeting Harley Quinn as his therapist n his escape
3rd flick I he is in full clown prince mode.
Saw it. Loved it until the end. The entire talk show sequence was poorly written.
next guy who will be the joker has some big shoes to fill
I had a somewhat similar experience. A guy wearing an overcoat, gloves and tie simply stood behind us for one or two minutes just looking at the screen before the film had begun. My date noticed that too and said he looked strange. I was ready to either hide somewhere or try to stop him somehow. Nothing happened but it seemed like an eternity until he sat down. When I saw it some dude a few seats over sitting by himself spent 5 mins rifling through a backpack. Everyone around him was super tense waiting to make sure he didn’t pull out a gun. Strange times.

I used to think it was a tragedy but then I realized it was a comedy all along. Is this movie just a comedy?
our theater actually banned backpacks after the shooting in colorado. When I saw it some dude a few seats over sitting by himself spent 5 mins rifling through a backpack. Everyone around him was super tense waiting to make sure he didn’t pull out a gun. Strange times.
epic sceneHow does he do it? How does he completely transform right before our eyes?

Sounds like Phoenix is open to it and according to him Todd had enough enthusiasm to keep shooting at the time, at least. WB and DC would be crazy if they wouldn't want to cash in on a sequel. There is also a lot of source material they can use as inspiration for a sequel. So, IMO, a sequel is not very unlikely.
they actually used to allow back packs all over l.a county before that colorado shooting I did it since maybe 2001. I actually think it has nothing to do with any of California laws it is all the theaters own policies. some theaters like AMC,edwards, regal let you do the stadium security thing where you bring in a clear bag. cinemark has the strictest security here.what police state do you live in?
There's no security at my movie theatre,
