Lawler didnt get robbed
Lawler wasnt promised a title shot and then not been given one
Lawler didnt get passed over by anybody
Love lawler and I am not hating on him, its awesome to see him wreck shit as champion but I can completely understand hendericks frustation.
Everybody does, but nobody likes him.
So what changed? At one point he was very popular, coming off several KO wins.
Answer: He got passed on once (something that happens), and he whined about it.
He decides to whine about the most popular and respected champ in the UFC being on PEDs, George says fine, lets do WADA testing, and Johny whines about that too.
So he fights GSP, should have won but decided to coast a little bit (thinking he won), and loses. Then he whined about that.
George quits and he fights Lawler for the belt, and during a FOTY fight, he secures the win by taking Lawler down in the 5th and holding him there. Success, but not a popular way to end it.
Lawler starts burning through guys while Johny sits on the shelf.
In the rematch, Johny goes for the TD at every opportunity, and tries ride out a decision but Lawler sways the judges with some late-round fury. Johny whines about the decision for weeks on end.
Hendricks now faces Brown, and instead of listening to fans/critics he puts on another lackluster fight, which fans and Dana point out afterward.
Meanwhile Robbie and Rory put on what will likely go down as FOTY. Johny doesn't care and still doesn't get it.
He gets passed again for a fan-favorite that loves to fight and is coming off an awesome win against Alves, and had a bum-incident happen against Woodley. More whining from JH.
Now he's blaming fans for a natural and obvious reaction to his behavior and performances. He should be saying "I get it, I'm going balls to the wall in my next fight. I'll starch whoever you put in my way", but he's a jackass.
This is all his doing. The only thing he had no control over was getting passed on the first GSP title-shot. That shit happens in every division, to all sorts of guys.
On one end of the spectrum you have Cowboy, a fan favorite who fights to fight and now has a title-shot, and on the other you have Hendricks, a loathed athlete who gets passed on title-shots that fans don't want to see.
