Seems Dragonlord fancies himself some old school shoot em up actions movies. :D

I still gotta see the 2nd movie... but I just wanted to throw in there about your comment... that though it's definitely filled with shoot em up action movies... it's got some very interesting back story to it... & then the secret society where you drop a one ounce gold coin through the door to get in. I feel a lot of that stuff makes it more than just an OG shooter. But to your point, it still is a shooter... but I feel a high rating for that movie would not necessarily classify someone as a "shooter fan."

Personally I get bored with a shooter film that has no real substance. John Wick got dat substance.

Well they need to have a little feeling so you care but it's all simple and to the point good for them they can find some cool stuff like the "modern mob / assassin league / holy ground hotel" that can keep us more interested but in the end it's an action popcorn movie and there is nothing wrong with that if done right.

@Dragonlordxxxxx

9/10

Enjoyed it , I tend to rate movies I have fun with higher and I had fun with this. The world of assasins is very cool and stylish , it was very neat they they expanded on the details and lore associated with it. Also I like the Army of One Trope for a Hero and Keanu's training makes the scenes look cool. As you said though his intentions are less than noble this time around , the character is still a tortured soul to root for , I think the Finale of this will be a redemption piece to come full circle.

Nice looking forward to this one. I think I'll rewatch the first one as well.

My cable provider has been playing the original on cable t.v off and on for the last week or two. I might pick up the blu ray of a box set if they ever finish making them. Is it going to be a trilogy you think?

I think I read a recent interview that they were aiming for a trilogy. Based on the ending of Chapter 2, it certainly looks that way.

Yea if so I'll probably wait until its complete then buy a box set for it. Can't want to see this 2nd one though, might do that this weekend.

John Wick: Chapter 2 is expected to earn between $24M to $30M while Fifty Shades Darker is expected for $40M to $44M.

I saw it today and I've seen the first one. That being said, I went in with an open mind. I thought it was nothing short of excellent! I hope that this is a trilogy because it was left wide open for one.

Back in 2014, a little film called John Wick starring Keanu Reeves about a retired hitman out for revenge after a couple of goons beat him up and killed his dog was a modest box office hit in the US only earning 43 million in the states. However, the word of mouth and critical reception was so strong that the film became a cult classic for its crazy action and crafty cinematic style. Just like that Keanu Reeves had the making of another franchise on his hands and the hype for John Wick: Chapter 2 couldn’t be greater. Fast forward almost 3 years and that day has finally come, the sequel to the 2014 hit is here and the only question that needed to be asked is, ‘Can this film top the first one?’ Could John Wick: Chapter 2 still keep us on the edge of our seats or will typical sequel letdown set in? The Answer? Get your popcorn ready.

As good as the first John Wick movie was, I’d argue that this film may even be better. The action is just as brutal if not more so in this sequel. Everything that made the first film a hit is magnified and polished creating a high-octane atmosphere you would have to be on lithium not to enjoy. John Wick: Chapter 2 is the first certified smash hit of the year and Keanu Reeves almost 15 years after the Matrix has another and much-deserved franchise on his hands.

Also shame on @Dragonlordxxxxx for not giving it 10/10. You let me down bro

I'd give it like 7/10. It didn't have the good acting or story of the first so was a bit of a letdown.

But the action sequences are quite good. There's some really cool and brutal moves they did.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed with the film. I gave this a 6, where as the first movie was a 8 or 9.

For me, this film lacked everything the first film had and didn't bring anything new to the table. In the first film, we discover John Wick and we learn why the underworld calls him The Boogeyman, a straight up bad ass. The movie did a great job with the asshole kid, that when he kills the dog and steals the car. You can't help but to feel for John Wick. You become somewhat emotionally tied to him. You root for him, you cheer for him and in the end, you want John Wick to get revenge. Every scene was fresh and intense. This movie was fun.

As for the second film, it still retains the good action scenes. However, it's the same scene over and over and over and over. Headshot, headshot, leg shot, headshot, scramble with guy, headshot 2 incoming guys, shoot guy you were scrambling with. Rinse and repeat with different environment. And this goes on for the entire movie. The hitman/woman scenes were great, but The Common and supermodel fight were a let down. I was expecting raid boss fight scenes like Mad Dog, Hammer Girl and Baseball Bat Man from The Raid series. Except all I got was a blue balls that left me saying, "WTF, that's it?". I wasn't emotionally tied with John Wick this time around. I already knew he was a badass, nothing was taking from him in this film that made me root for him. The villain didn't really do anything bad to him nor did I really feel he deserved to die as with the teenage douchebag in the first film. Without spoiling it, John Wick decides to go back into the game because there are rules to follow in the dark underworld. However, at the end he breaks them anyways, which leaves me like the Jackie Chan WTF.

Go see the movie if you like the first one. However, it's not as good. Rental imo.

John Wick 2 is an orgy of gun-porn, close-quarters-combat-FU, with a huge dash of suave adversarial, honor-bound, dedication to duty by an also excellent role portrayal by Common. The exotic locales and superb supporting cast are the spices to an excellent stew of action-packed, honor-bound, Ronin-esque, FURY.

Go see this film!
9 out of 10

Holy shit this movie is awesome. As an MMA fan and guy who trains it's amazing to see BJJ and judo used so much along with the gun fighting. Omoplata and I believe berimbolo were there, amongst triangle, kata guruma, ogoshi etc. Movie is fucking great

About 30 head shots, an armbar and a attempted triangle-choke. I didn't think it was half bad but of coarse you have unrealistic scenes too. Good popcorn flick

I enjoyed it a little more than the first one (which was very awesome) because they really upped the action sequence and I love the clever use of the gun fight between him and Common at the subway. Also nice reference to Enter the Dragon at the mirror hall. 4.5 out of 5 stars

I'm looking forward to the third film

The hitman society all gunning for him this time after being excommunicated and he has no resources other than his faithful dog

Where you at?!?! When I was on Okinawa, we'd get it about a week after it debuted in the States.
