I was late to the party, just saw John Wick a few weeks ago. Awesome flick. Keanu is made fun of relentlessly by his detractors, he may be one of the most shit on actors on this forum, but he continues to make big films.
His career is looking pretty damn good
Bill and Ted's
My Own Private Idaho
Bram Stoker's Dracula
A Scanner Darkly
Johny Mnemonic
The Matrix Trilogy
The Devil's Advocate
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Constantine
Point Break
John Wick
I can honestly say I enjoyed most of those films and some of them were downright bad ass.
Finally got around to watching John Wick, awesome movie for pure entertainment!
One thing I love to do when watching movies is look for those little things, directors love to hide little gems for their audiences to pick up on.
One such gem was the scene where John Wick is getting let into a secured zone and a security guard who lets him in is reading a book:
Shibumi[/CENTER]
Any Sherdoggers know more information on the Book? Maybe have read it and can give some good insight?
Shibumi is an old(1979)spy thriller written by Trevanian. It's plot involves a conflict between Nicholas Hel, a highly skilled professional assassin with psychic abilities, and the Mother Company, a group of Energy Companies that secretly control much of the world.
Hel is an expert in the Japanese board game, Go, and a master of an esoteric Martial Art known as Naked Kill. This art specializes in using any object as a weapon. At one point it is mentioned that the average room in a Western house contains almost a hundred different weapons for an adept of Naked Kill.
Hel, at the beginning of the story, is retired. He is drawn back into the world of covert operations and assassination by the daughter of an old friend who is being hunted by the Mother Company.
Hel possess a Proximity Sense that allows him to know exactly where other people are even in total darkness. He can also use a form of Astral Projection to attain a state of absolute calmness and serenity.
Absolutely loved the movie, but it would have been more believable if.......
they had killed the wife during the home invasion. All that for a puppy, while poetic, was a bit far flung.
caught this on hbo the other night and almost couldnt finish it, it was that bad. I'm all for a mindless action flick, but this just wasnt really much fun after the first twenty or so kills. Maybe it was becasue i just watched jack reacher and thought it was much better in a similar vein, or heard so many people praise it. Very dissapointed
Funny this is that I have been meaning to make a thread about this book on here for a long time.
Long story short, it is one of my very favorite novels of all time. Top 2, along with Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. It is an EXCELLENT read and the author himself, go went by the name Trevanian, was a bit of a character. He avoided all media and even masked his real identity for many years. More info on his Wiki page:

I highly recommend Shibumi, as well as another book of his that I've read, The Eiger Sanction.

I think Keanu is a terrible actor but some of his movies are my favorites.

Is the Eiger Sanction the one Clint Eastwood made a movie of?
Shibumi sounds cool, I'm gonna check it out.
