I was late to the party, just saw John Wick a few weeks ago. Awesome flick. Keanu is made fun of relentlessly by his detractors, he may be one of the most shit on actors on this forum, but he continues to make big films.

His career is looking pretty damn good

Bill and Ted's
My Own Private Idaho
Bram Stoker's Dracula
A Scanner Darkly
Johny Mnemonic
The Matrix Trilogy
The Devil's Advocate
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Constantine
Point Break
John Wick

I can honestly say I enjoyed most of those films and some of them were downright bad ass.

He pretty much just plays himself in all his movies. He never shows much emotion on his face. Which makes him good for The day the Earth Stood Still, and probably Point Break. But also for Sci-Fi flicks where you don't want the protag to attract all the attention.

Agree with you MusterX, I too don't get why everyone hates on Keeanu Reeves about his acting, I know after Bill and Ted's excellent adventure that role as a dumb sufer kid hung with him for a little while, but come on - Point Break, Devils Advocate, Matrix, Contantine, and now John Wick just to name a few, he's been pure awesome in all these roles and the guy never ages, looks the same way he does now 20 years ago.

Love the guy - just my 2cents.

That's pretty intense, guys gone through the ringer of life - definitely has faced his hardships .....never knew he hung out with River Phoenix, they must have had a pretty talented crew back in their day.

What about the wife-beating redneck he plays in The Gift? That was pretty against type.

I don't get all the mad love for John Wick. For me it was just ok. I only watched it a few weeks ago and to be honest it was fairly forgettable fare and the things that mainly stick in my mind are the fight choreography wasn't up to scratch and Keanu is looking kinda old and stiff these days. And for the record I'm not a Keanu hater, I quite like the dude but this one just didn't hit the right notes for me.

The Replacements is better than quite a few of those that you listed... Why wasn't it listed!?

Point Break and Constantine are two movies I enjoy quite a bit.

Absolutely loved the movie, but it would have been more believable if.......

they had killed the wife during the home invasion. All that for a puppy, while poetic, was a bit far flung.

Well it was the last gift his recently dead wife gave him so it was kind of a representation of her.

Maybe someone should tell the TS that his picture isn't working in the OP so that we don't have to look at an artist's rendering of a pile of shit every time we open the thread. . .

JOHN WICK 2 Begins Filming This Fall with Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves is back! Or, at least he will be back this fall when filming starts on John Wick 2, the sequel to the indie action flick that quickly achieved cult status. Thunder Road Pictures confirmed that Reeves and company would be shooting the sequel this fall, with directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski returning, as well as screenwriter Derek Kolstad.

As for what we can expect from John Wick 2, according to Stahelski and Leitch, they were in development on the second film as far back as February. Here’s Stahelski’s take on it:

“We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.”

Thoroughly enjoyed this film and looking forward to #2. The Marilyn Manson song was rad and I was surprised ole Brian Warner still has some creative juice left.

Keanu Reeves is such a good dude. Anyonr read about him and street stories

Yeah I read an article about his life. It's an incredibly sad story, but to hear about how he's overcome most of it is inspiring to say the least.

I would love to meet him on the street someday. Something tells me he would strike a long conversation with me.

Most sequel nowadays tend to be saturated.

If done right, it can be just be as rad as the first one.

I watched it again last night, great film. The fist fight in the rain was completely unnecessary though, I think they should have cut the last 10 minutes of film.

I hope the second one is just a 90 minute long action sequence with just enough filler dialogue to keep it going.

Chad Stahelski to Direct JOHN WICK 2 Without David Leitch

Chad-Stahelski-092415b-Dragonlord.jpg

Since production started on a second installment of Lionsgate's fan-favorite John Wick franchise, here's what they've been saying about the creative team: "John Wick starred Keanu Reeves, directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, all of whom will return for the sequel."

Today, Collider reveals that while it's true they'll all be back, the configuration is somewhat different; with Leitch apparently directing an unrelated project on his own, Stahelski will take on John Wick 2 while Leitch consults and serves as an executive producer.

While you might not know their names except as the people behind John Wick, you’ve definitely seen their work in films like Speed Racer, The Bourne Legacy, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and tons of others. On some the films mentioned they did the stunts, and on some they directed second unit (which means they directed a lot of the action). In addition, they run 87eleven, which is the premiere action design team in Hollywood. When an actor needs to be trained for an action role, they get sent to 87eleven.
