John McCarthy explaining the rules to Frank Shamrock.

A lot of people fail to realize that McCarthy helped write a LOT of the unified rules, which is why I think it's really funny when anyone says he's trying to upstage the fighters when he says stuff while reffing, or when he tells people to "not play the game" with the hand off/on the mat for downed status.

It's like... 'dude, he basically wrote the rules... I think he knows what he's doing'

Yeah, he was also the one who suggested "Damage" as part of the judging criteria, but they didn't want to do it cause it sounded too violent at the time.

I've read the unified rules and I still found these videos to be really helpful. Thanks!

Big John: "Do you have any question at all?"

Severn: "Well you know, I've been wondering John... if I had a bicycle and I travel 10mph, and a train travels at 50mph, and I got to travel a 30 minute distance, how many apples does Mary have left in the basket?"

Big John: "She's got a monkey".

Severn: "Okay".

Big John: "Good luck and fight smart".

Announcer: "I'm not sure what that conversation was about, but Severn and Coleman are making their way into the Octagon".

Frank acts like he's 12 years old. That guy cracks me up.

Big John is the man. Have you guys heard this thing about how he's not licensed in Nevada because he criticized the quality of the judges/refs so Kizer decided to punish him? I heard that somewhere, but haven't seen it in print. It seems like that should be a much bigger deal.

Dana White still has a grudge against big John for calling Dana out as a liar on radio

According to McCarthy's twitter him and Dana are cool now, it's Kizer that has a problem with him.

dont know why but i really enjoyed watching the video. tnx ts

I couldn't really hear, were frank and John mocking that dumping someone on their head was a stupid rule??... I mean you can paralyze/kill someone very easily doing that.

Frank dumped a guy on his head and ended his career. So it was probably why.

They should update the unified rules to make it clearer like the no hand on the floor tricks.

What he is saying is everyone starts out as a whitebelt, fix the problem early. You can't go through everyone on the forum.

A white belt on the sherdog forum isn't an actual representation of a persons MMA knowledge. If he meant "people new to MMA" thats what he should have said. Post count doesn't equate to knowledge of the sport.

Yep, and look who else was there.
