interesting to see Kavanagh acknowledge all the talk about Conor dicking about with Ido Portal in the lead up to the Diaz fight

'There were mistakes made and, as the coach, I’ll take ownership of them'

Claims that its only for the final two weeks before a fight and the purpose is to stay loose and hard sparring is a bad idea so close to a fight.
Says it was just to break from the grind of drills and sparring in the previous 8-10 weeks and that he thinks it has worked for them in the past

he's cashing out with this book. good idea to take advantage of the publicity.

Good post. Yeah, I gathered from Ido's interviews leading up to Conor's last two fights that Ido has worked with Conor for a grand total of about 3 weeks or so.

But still:

Should have been doing zoo zitsu the last 2 weeks even light sub defense would have benefitted more for FIGHTING , than touch butt.

I never understood the yoga instructor from gta 5. But it's not cool throwing him under the bus now that they lost when they were praising him to the heavens before.

Yeah, funny how leading up to the fight "movement training" was the hot thing and now "touch butt" is the laugh stock.
I always though "movement training" was just smart marketing, they didn't reinvent the wheel, just put a name on a type of trianing that has been part of martial arts and physical training in general for a long time, overblown for sure, and Ido is for sure gimmicky and a bit full of bullshit, but I don't think it was perjudicial at all for Conor.

I don't see any part of that where he criticises or even suggests using Ido was a bad idea?

This. Anyone who trains in Jiu-jitsu or some form of Martial Arts will recognize some of the drills they do. Some of them we use to do as warm up before MMA practice. Like Nate Diaz said, Rickson has been doing that shit before "Choke" was released.

Yeah, like some people talk shit on cartwheels lol. I've seen cartwheels on basically every BJJ and MMA gym I've been to.

It is Kavanagh's fault, he should never have let Conor enter the Ido Portal so often before the Nate fight.

Hell yeah. We do cartwheels, Ninja Rolls and I also practice basic tumbling. We do some touchbutt type exercises as well which I feel helps with my BJJ.

Now my criticism is that he seemed to have done a little bit too much (Oxymoron:confused:) touchbutt ahead of the Nate Diaz fight. I understand doing it the last week so that your body doesn't get banged up but damn near any footage I saw him in, he was doing some shit the last couple of weeks.

Ido portal is a fraud and should be kicked off this planet

There are several factors to McGregor's loss and it has nothing to do with Kavanagh or Portal.
The main factor is Nate Diaz; he's a more well rounded fighter that is very hard to knock out.
Connor fighting way above his weight and has never been hit by a person that naturally weighs 20-30 pounds more than you. A flash KO is the only way McGregor pulls off a victory and the odds are stacked against him for that to happen when fighting Nate Diaz

Well, one thing I'll never understand, why was Conor's submission defense so bad? He has John Kavanagh as a coach. The first black belt in Ireland can't teach his best fighter BJJ and
has to get a brazilian to train Conor's ground game?

Anyone following closely already knows Ido was always barely involved with Conor's training.

The whole touchbutt thing just took on a life of its own. :-)

Sweeping Nate in the 1st and escaping his guillotine in the 2nd isn't bad.

Conor was rocked before panic wrestling to the mat in the second. Few people could survive on the ground with a Diaz brother while rocked. Nate is a fantastic blackbelt.

The problem was not Conor's BJJ(even though I think Conor is not a good grappler). He just quit in there. He panic wrestled and basically gave his back without even trying to defend the RNC. That tells a lot about his heart, not his BJJ.

This is the kind of nonsense you get on the interwebz. E-warriors questioning the hearts of champions.

Conor fought out of getting choked in a guillotine, only to get choked in a RNC.

With a Diaz blackbelt on top of your rattled head, looking for your neck or an arm, it's only a matter of time.

Yeah I knew I was getting a "brah you're just a keyboard warrior" and you are actually true,I'm writing here and he's fighting in a cage......but it's true. Conor panicked after getting punched(which is hilarious, considering all his shit talk to "panic wrestlers" lol) and then gave up. He gave his neck,he didn't want to fight no more. Kinda like Rumble Johnson. No wonders Rumble and Conor don't have a single TKO loss in their records.
