Some may remember the British fighter John Hathaway and how he was booked to fight Gunnar Nelson, but decided to pull from the fight with an undisclosed injury. Apparently this whole time he's been battling the same thing GSP has and in this article he goes into a bit of detail on the struggles he's had to face.

Side note: will the GSP haters accept this as a real thing and a career ending disease now another fighter has opened up about it?

It's a real thing
But GSP doesn't have it

He just gets the shits every time someone mentions a real fight at 185

That's not UC
It's called 'scared of Yoel Romero itis'

Feel bad for him, he was close to a return in like 2016 or 17 wasn't he? Then he just dissappeared again.

Last I heard he was supposed to fight against Gunnar at 189 back in 2015, but yeah the guy was entertaining to watch. In the article he describes how hard it is to go through a training camp with the disease.

He had a legit record.

"He came out, he hand-picked Bisping and then went away again" - Dana White

I always liked Hathaway.

Shame he hasn't been able to compete.

This.

It can also be called ‘scared of Rob Whittaker itis’ or ‘scared of Anderson itis’

poor guy. really feel for him. can you imagine going to the bathroom and then seeing a toilet full of blood?

This thread quickly became a gathering of the fucktards.

Is that like a flaming asshole ?

That shit must be awful.

Hathaway was an awesome prospect... damn shame.

I have the same disease and I also compete in MMA and grappling. Been 2 years since my last MMA fight tho, as Hathaway says, it's really hard to go through camp with UC and I haven't been able to train the way I want to at all.

I used to dream about a fighting career, I still do, but I have also realised that this disease might make it a lot harder and the odds to "make it" even lower in a business where making it is already really hard. I'm gonna go back to school this year and study economy to make sure that I have a degree to fall back on in the future. Don't know why I shared why life story on sherdog but I've been thinking about this shit (pun intended) a lot recently so it felt good to put it in to words.

Anyway, gonna go back to grinding hearthstone now. see ya sherbros

I shouldn't have even mentioned the GSP thing lol. I just assumed it was gonna go down that road eventually.

Good luck to you, man! I hope you're world champ some day.
